| Has anyone heard more from the OPer? I'm hoping she comes back to update and the puppies were delivered safely. Mary and Jim you are both great. Thank you for always stepping up to help in situations like this.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i've been watching this thread since last night. Was hoping to see new pups this morning. I can't believe she still hasnt' had them since her water broke 14 hours ago. Mary, with dogs if they deliver so long after their water breaks is there a chance the pups will need special care afterwards? i only ask cause my friend (human) had her water break at 1am and didn't have her baby until 7:30pm that same day. Her baby had to go into NICU because she was having trouble breathing. They said it was because she was in the womb for so long after the water broke.

| First puppy has been born. Betty is working with Baby Girl to get the cord cut. All is going well at this point, Betty is just nervous....experienced breeders suffer nerves too.

| Glad you were up this morning, Mary. I hated to leave her as I knew a pup was on the way. I came home to find one of my neighbor's cats giving birth in my driveway. It's been a crazy morning....

| I think Betty will do fine. Hope the whelp goes smoothly. Mary, tell Betty she doesn't need to be nervous...I'm nervous enough for the both of us LOL. Honestly, I don't think I fell asleep until about 4 this morning after talking to her.

Betty, If you're able to read this, as I don't want to call you cause I know you're busy, either put the puppy's butt to the mother's mouth so she can diaper it. Or take a cotton ball or wash cloth that you have wet with warm water and massage the pups anus.

| Betty is doing fine. She just called and told me that her Baby actully cut the cord herself, but she monitored to make sure it didn't get close to the puppy's tummy. The placenta did expell and Baby ate it. So, many things I wanted to tell her, but she's busy. The pup was crying so it is expanding it's lungs. So, I don't think the shake down was necessary. But, maybe with the next puppy.

| I cautioned her about the cord so glad she monitored the Mom cutting it. She wasn't given much good info by her vet so was really unprepared. Last night I just told her enough to deliver the pups and get them settled in. Didn't want to over-whelm her with too much info. I'm sure she'll need some guidance after the whelp on after-care.

She is contacting her husband to pick up some basic supplies on the way home from work. I told her that when things settle down we'll talk so, that I can give her a list of basic supplies she'll need to have on hand.
