Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Have you used Dyne? other pregency ?? I was thinking about ordering some but wanted to hear some reviews first. Is it safe for pregnant girls? My girl is around 30 days and she has almost stopped eating. I can get my husband to get her to eat a little. Yesterday all he could get down was a piece of cheese. I have offered her everything. Has anyone force feed a girl before with a syringe? What food would be best to do this? Should I do this? Has anyone heard about b-12 shots to increase appetite?

| I have used Dyne before but not with a pregnant bitch. Only with puppies. I can't see anything in it that would harm a pregnancy and it's good to help stimulate the appetite. It doesn't give the runs as bad as nutrical can and it has calories in it so it helps sustain them. Not just shoot their sugar level up. If she's gone off food completely, try everything you can think of. Even things that we consider non-healthy are better than nothing at this point. I have syringe fed a puppy before with a mixture of 1/2 canned food and 1/2 yogurt. The yogurt helps straighten out their stomach and also helps thin out the canned food so it will go through a syringe. Make sure you use plain or vanilla flavored yogurt. Just nothing that is low fat or fat free because it will have artificial sweeteners in it.

I understand what you're going through, last summer I had two do this to me. I've had girls go off food at their 3rd week, for about a week. But, these 2 never went back on. Yes, I force fed them. Goat's milk, equal parts of distilled water, mixed with Gerber's rice cereal and crushed puppy kibbles. I used a baby spoon. Put a bib on them, sat them on my lap and fed them like little babies. Yes, I used Dyne. But, what eventually worked, was Natural Balance; the lamb formula.......at least I got them to eat. What was worse was they didn't pick up eating until after the pups were weaned. Thank goodness I had no issues with their milk drying up or eclampsia. But, I did do the scrambled egg with crushed calcium and kept Oral Cal Plus on hand. Try warming her food and sprinkling Parmeasan Cheese. Canine's love stinky stuff. Her hormones and taste buds are out of wack....and she must be experiencing morning sickness. Mary

I grind puppy kibble to a ground coffee consistency, and mix it with goats milk formula. Sometimes she will eat it on her own...if not, she gets it syringed fed. Keep the puppy formula close by as you are feeding, as the ground kibble will continue to thicken as you feed and you will have to have it at the right consistency for it to flow out the syringe. This will make syringing it a lot easier, with less spitting it all over. I keep these syringes on hand in bulk!! I cut the tips a bit more to a help the gruel flow better. Easy Feeder Syringe for Small Animals - Blue - 1/2 oz :: Other Bird Supplies :: Birds :: EasyPetStore.com Most girls will take this with ease. And it will put some needed weight on a thin girl pretty quickly. Usually...after the pups are born, they will eat it on their own with other foods as well. I also use this method if a new mom's stays picky a little too long after birth.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | Thank you all! I am going to try some of the suggestions. I had a steak in the freezer so I gave it a try. She wouldn't eat it out of the bowel but would eat one piece at a time.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | What about raw meat? Can I give her that to try or should it always be cooked? I thought raw meat is dangerous but see others do it. What about cooked bacon? I thought she might like that..everything taste better with bacon on it. I will keep the steak up until she stops or I go broke.

When Cheeky was pregant, she only wanted to eat dry chicken strips and I gave her like 3 pieces eveyday and Vet told me that there were too much protein in her blood. Vet told me to give her only one a day. Beside chicken, only food cheeky liked was Natural Ultramix Puppy Formula( I went hrough like 12 different kinds of puppy food...) However, that only lasted couple of days, so I had to syringe feed her 4~5 times a day(small amount, so she can keep her food down in her tummy). Hope your baby's appetite will pick up soon! Let us know what works for you~

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | when my friend's havanese was prego she stop eating, someone suggested raw meat, so we offer her a Natures variety medallion and she gobble it down, that is all she ate until she delivered, the vet said it was great, because it has all the necessary nutrients. so maybe that could be something to give a try.. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| Melissa, I hope you find the "magic" food to help your little mamma regain her appetite. You have probably already tried this, but I'll throw it out anyway. When I have one that gets finicky on me, I give them a small amount of Nutri-Cal. It stimulates their appetite and then I can usually tease them into eating a bit of something more substantial. Have you tried whelping pudding? For the Dyne users - how long is the shelf life? |

I don't know the shelf life, since there is no experation on the bottle. I automatically throw mine out if it isn't used within a year. It's a question I think I need to put to the Revival people, since they are always so helpful. Just haven't done it, don't know why, but I haven't......

| I use to just place my orders via online, until I had a question on some product, so I called. They have some very knowledgable techs there. If you can't get one immediately, I leave my number and they always call me back.
