Nothing from Ollie. I'm glad Livi is showing some progress. I'm very excited for you. You've waited a week for this.

One of my daughters is coming this afternoon, I'm kinda hoping that Ollie has them when she is here.

Good luck Tammy. I hope she has them this afternoon. As for her drinking water, I usually don't worry too much about the drinking when they are actually in labor because they usually start throwing up anyway. Giving her a little Nutri-cal occasionally is good. I hope she starts having them this afternoon or sooner.

I thought that we were on our way, but she is now just hanging out with my hubby. He's watching a movie in our bedroom and she's sleeping away on the bed. This has felt like the LONGEST week!

Well it seems to me that with all this "practice"/false alarms Livi has been having, when she does actually whelp I'd think she would be able to just pop them right out! Let's hope so.............and let's hope it's today. :xfingers:

Over the years I have had some whelping like this. It does get so frustrating. Does it feel like the pups are dropped and ready to be born?

I can still feel puppies in the sides of her tummy...her sides still stick way out. But I can also feel puppy parts ( :p ) in the middle of her tummy....fairly low. She has stopped panting but is now breathing very hard....still sleeping, though. Is her rapid breathing normal? I am just so worried about things stopping and starting and with her being a week overdue.

I can understand your worrying. It does seem like she should have had them by now. I just pray the pups will not be too big for her to pass. The rapid breathing would be normal if she is in labor. Is it warm in your house? I worry about pre-eclampsia also. I have never experienced it but I know others have. If she is resting well then I don't think it would be that because I think they real restless with pre-eclampsia. Gee, don't you wish they could just talk and tell us what is going on.

At this point she sounds normal to me. She sounds a lot like my Tiffany the day before she actually delivered. But I hope that Livi is not going to make anybody wait that long:D Come on Livi we are all ready to meet your babies

Gosh Tammy, Levi sounds so much like Destiny, everything you described. Destiny did the shaking and heavy breathing too and had me worried. I too called the emergency vet and they wouldn't see her until she had strong contractions. I was so worried because it seemed to take a lot out of her. After the first pup she didn't have any strength left. That's when the vet finally stepped in and gave her two calcium shots and she perked up right away.

I hope all is going well with Levi!! Give that precious girl a big hug and kiss for me!! I will be praying for a quick and smooth delivery!!

Update us as soon as you can!!

4:45-parti carrier female (3.4oz.)
5:10-parti male (4.4oz.)

The second placenta did not come out with the puppy...it was basicially sucked back in...we had VERY little cord to work with and the puppy came out breach and gasping. I worked on him for a while and he is now on the heating pad with his sister and they have both nursed.....Geoff just now got him to nurse and he has stopped gasping. The girl has only nursed for a few minutes but has stopped....is this okay? What about the placenta that went back in?

I CANNOT stop shaking

oh, wait,..geoff said she is pushing again. be back!

Tammy yes is ok, it will come out with the next baby, do you have nutri drops and bene bac, rub a drop of the drops in the babies mouth and give them half a tube of benebac, and you will see how fast they latch on.make sure you get a count of the placentas,I always give them half a cup of red rabsberry leaf tea after whelping to make sure everything comes out and milk production is at its best..

Yay!!! Congrats...........oh finally, what a relief in the works for you. Sounds like Livi is doing great!!! Sure it's okay that the girl nursed for a while and stopped, she'll nurse more later I'm sure when things settle down. The placenta that went back in will hopefully come out with the next pup. Just keep track and it they are not all accounted for in the end, then a trip to the vet for an oxy shot is in order. Congrats again Tammy & Livi!:D

Congrats on the two new babies!!

Don't worry about the placenta right now. If she doesn't pass it now, take her in later for an oxytocin shot, it will clean her out. Harmony didn't pass any of her placentas when she had her two pups. I had very little cord to work with as well. We took in her later for the shot and it did the trick.

They usually don't nurse a whole lot when first born.

You can take her in to the vet on Monday to get a shot to clean her out.
