| Congrats on the beautiful babies. I am so glad that they have arrived safe and sound. You are going to have to watch your girl very closely for eclampsia, four is a big litter. When one of my girls had to get calcium my vet told me she couldn't nurse for 24 hours after the shot (I don't know why exactly, maybe one of the other breeders knows). Luckily, I had another litter just 18 hours previous and I was able to get that mom to nurse the babies. I have also had a girl who was totally terrified of her babies and would only nurse them or stay with them if I sat with her (I had to force her to let them nurse, she would lay flat on her tummy). After a couple of days she accepted them to nurse and I think she loved them but remained timid with them right through till weaning. After weaning, she was only too happy to let one of the other girls take over with training them, and I have one bossy girl who thinks all babies should be hers and she is very good with them. Get some rest and spend some time with your skin-kids but keep a good watch on Laynee, she is not out of the woods yet. Audrey |

| Sounds lijke things are improving. Keep the baby monitor on at night and when you hear the peuppies, get up and make sure they are sucking. Watch so the bigger ones do not knock the little ones off. You can lose one overnight if it is getting pushed off. By morning it will be too weak to eat. |

| Congratulations on the safe arrival of 4 babies. Sending more prayers for their continued health and safety, and hugs to you, their super-mom for being brave and getting them this far. Following this and your other thread..... makes me feel like I was in labor. Geez, I'd wake up in the night wondering how it's going. Hope we can all rest now. Keep em safe!

Good Luck, your work has just begun. Be careful with those lil ribbons around their neck......Some have lost puppies that way.

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | make sure she has about 5 small meals a day.. I start with breakfast some wet food and dry kibble mixed with 1/2 a tab of calcium pill, then a little snack of scrambled egg, lunch kibble with some goat milk, dinner mix of dry and wet and before bed, I give her some kibble mixed with 1 tab of calcium pill and a mixed with some goat milk. Make sure she has plenty of water and I have my whelping box oposite of the window, so she and the babies can benefit of some sunshine, when is out, is winter in NJ now and sun is precious to all..make sure you keep an eye on her I get up thru the night to check on Chanel and the babies, I have a baby monitor hooked on top of the whelping box and the receiver on my night table. any noise, crying baby gets my attention and I come to the room. hugs, Carmen in nj |

As long as your pups are gaining, you're fine....check for hydration by pulling the skin on their neck. If it bounces right back they are hydrated, if not, call your vet. He can Sub-Q them for you. 3 to 5 days tail docking and dew claw removal. Any changes in the sound of their breathing....could be a respiratory problem, call the vet.....he can administer clovomax....don't wait, it can turn into pneumonia. Most important, don't over handle, all they need is mom right now and quiet. Keep them warm and take care of her, she'll take care of them. We're here if you have any questions. (661) 424-9926

| I'm really impressed with your level of care and compassion for your beautiful dog. Nice job of being there for her and being smart in her care. I'm not a breeder---so, I've stayed quiet. But, I've watched every post and kept you all in our thoughts and prayers. Don't forget to take care of yourself in the midst of this--you need your strength too! I think this has been a good "real life" gut check about the work it takes for safe deliveries. And, super impressed that she even has her bows in--bonus points! |
