Our dog went through the same thing when she had her puppies 3 weeks ago. I'm glad yours turned out well.

how can i tell if they are getting enough milk? as long as im laying with her in bed she will nurse them, and they suckle but how do i know they are full? and one of them kinda snorkles when he drinks???

as long and they are quiet cuddling with her, they are full, you can see round full tummies when you see them, when they are hungry they fuzz and cry.. if she is producing enogh they are quiet..

okay...im just gonna be tired and freak out for the next 12 weeks...lol. but i am SSSOOOO very greatful i still have my girl and these babies.
i swear i wanna keep em all. lol

My Yorkie had a c-section 2 weeks ago 3 girls and 1 boy ! She wasnt to sure of the puppies at first either but after the Meds. where out of her system she got the hang of it. I did just as you sat with her and let the puppies nurse that seemed to keep her calm and relaxed. We also bottle fed a couple times a day for the 1st week. I was so tired after that first week but they are all doing great growing like weeds! Make sure you do your Calcium and eggs also keep them warm

Since she went eclamptic on you , she may not be able to nurse them very long.....An episode can happen again, since she's prone to it.

The puppies need to nurse as much as possible. Even if they are not getting milk, they are getting colostrum and that is so important to them at this time. The milk will come, just make sure everyone is getting a chance to nurse on the last two nipples. They will have the most milk. Put the smallest puppies on those nipples and let them nurse there for awhile. The bigger ones always find a way to knock them off so watch for that.

You can tell a skinny puppy from a nice round belly puppy just by looking. If you have a skinny one, be sure it gets to nurse the most on the back teats.

I'm so glad for you -- and hoping everyone will do just fine now.

The mother was eclamptic.....I don't know what her vet's instructions were.....

he saidto just let them try to nurse and to supplement if they start screaming more...that it may take a few days for everything to start working right. idk. im praying...all over again for a miracle

Yorkiemama you sure have been through it! I have been following from your first post and it certainly has been an eye opening experience. Very stressful! I'm glad that you had the advice of many experienced breeders here and the support of many to help you get through this.

I am THRILLED to hear that your little girl has pulled through and the babies as well! What a blessing. I can only imagine how scary and stressful all of this has been for you. Congratulations on your litter and also on your hubby coming home soon.

I will continue to pray for quick healing for your girl and that she will come around and take care of her babies. She has been through a lot as well and may have a change of heart once she is feeling better.

Thank you for continuing to keep us posted.

my vet gave me a bottle. told me to give 1/4 a tab 2x a day

andshe has a GREAT appetite surprisingly this soon after surgery. she even tried snatching my muffin out my mouth. lol
