Here is the most recent belly shot...

Oh my, lucky you!!!!:D I've been a basket case watching Halle every chance I get, not even just for movement (which I know it's still early for that), but a more permanent belly bulge. If she truely is just having one, I know that will take more time then if she were having five but, well........seeing is believing for me I guess. We have a while before we hit the 50+ day mark, so I guess I'll try to practice my patience a bit more.

LOL Yup, her mom just had 5 too. 4 girls and 1 boy. But sadly we lost 1 tiny girl.

Yeah I would have prefered to have strethch this out throughout the year, but the girls had other plans I guess! LOL BIG change for me, since I've never had more than 1 litter at one time! I can't wait to take pics of them all playing together!!!!!!

Oh wow, did everything go well? I really wish I could watch a live birth of someone experenced in action. I have had two litters but feel I still dont know too much I have been very lucky to not have run into any problems. I would love to see a pro in action.

Breny 08-02-2009 06:28 PM

Everything went great. This was Hannah's first litter and she did amazing. And she is being a wonderful mom. I normally don't have this many litters at once (I never had more than 1 at one time) but this was the last one that I was expecting. Now I just get ready in a few weeks for all the poo cleaning I am going to be doing :)

You must be really proud of Hanah:) What a girl! Congrats!!!
Please post pics of them ASAP.
with help from luckylady, finally being able to post pics of Cheeky(today 43days) I hope at least 2, but not sure.... hope its not one big puppy(

I have a litter due August 17. This will be Diva's 2nd and last litter. Last year she had 2 puppies that weighed 2 ozs each at birth. One died at age 4days due to small size and neurological issues. The survivor is Teddy and at one year old he only weighs 2 lbs 3 ozs. This time we used a different stud with a great pedigree and breeding history. She is already much bigger this time around with 2 weeks still to go, so I'm thinking we are going to have 4 or more this time. I have 5 people actually wanting one of her puppies, so at least I have a great list of good homes to choose from. Our vet was unsure of how many were on the ultrasound and he doesn't like xrays unless he suspects a problem. He thinks 4 possibly 5.

Congrats to all the other puppy watchers.

Here is Hannahs litter :) Born 08/02/09

Yes first litters tend to be small but I held her back from a mom who has always had 4 in her litters - 3 girls a 1 boy and she just had 5 too. The line always has big litters. Her sister had 6 babies her first litter!

IHave4Beauties: you know that ball you felt in your dog's belly, and then it was gone? I just felt the same thing this morning at like 4 am :) Roxie woke me up to go potty, and afterwards I started massaging her belly really gently and I felt a lump. It wasn't round like a ball, but rather like a hard object, and then it moved and I couldn't find it again. Puppy?! I hope so! It was exciting.

RoxieHart 08-04-2009 08:04 AM

Oh and Roxie is 7 WEEKS today! Time for another belly pic I think. I'll be right back with one. Well, probably in an hour. She hates being on her back, so it will take forever to get a decent pic. Lol!

Can't wait to see the belly pic.. I seriously think my Roxy is getting bigger by the day. I am almost thinking she may whelp before her 63 days are up (on Monday August 10th). Last night my husband and i watched in awe as we saw Roxy's belly move from the puppies. She's so fat and miserable now, the only position she feels comfortable in IS on her back..

I can't wait to see belly pics of your Roxie!

Suzy 08-04-2009 09:36 AM

I am so excited to see Toby and Halle's little ones!

RoxieHart 08-04-2009 09:51 AM

Aww the poor little mama! She's due 8 days before Roxie is. I wonder if I'll be able to see Rox's puppies move next week, how exciting! Belly pic uploading now..

Ok lets see if this works for me this time.. the first pic is 6 weeks, second pic is now, at 7 weeks, and then one of her laying down. Look at all that hair! I love her coat.

RoxysMomma 08-04-2009 10:32 AM

She is gorgeous! Her coat is beautiful. I had to shave Roxy because she managed to get all tangled up with some gum (no idea how this happened).. This was before I found out she was pregnant. Instead of letting it grow out, I was advised that keeping it short until after the puppies are born would make it easier on us both. I can't wait to let her coat grow out again.

RoxieHart 08-04-2009 10:46 AM

Thank you! I'm debating whether to cut her hair or not, before she whelps. I really don't want to, but I also don't want her coat to be a hot mess after the pups get here. At the very least, I'm definitely going to shave her belly.

peanut 08-04-2009 10:54 AM

Go ahead and cut it, I left Blossom's long and end up cutting it anyway, it was just to much and the puppy was breaking her hair off like crazy, the wraps didn't work as well as I thought. :)

let see some belly pics of Hallie:D

I'm sorry I missed this post earlier..........YES, of course I'd love to see belly pictures of your Shih-Tzu! This is an August litter thread, not a August yorkie litter thread.

Wow, any day now? Are you sure you don't mean any minute now? She sure looks ready to me. Good luck to you and the little mama.

She does have a beautiful coat. I would definitely trim or shave the belly hair, those pups will be matting it like crazy from their nursing and the milk will mess it up too. You might even want to trim up the sides a bit; I have heard/read a horror story or two of pups getting tangled up in the long locks. You don't want to take any chances. Halle's hair was to the floor; I've trimmed it up about 2 inches............so far. If she's just having one pup, I REALLY don't want to take any chances!

I would suggest cutting it. I had a puppy get caught in a mommys hair before and dragged out of the box and dragged accross the floor. VERY dangerous. Luckly I was sleeping in the room when it happened.

RoxieHart 08-04-2009 09:22 PM

Thanks for the advice, ladies. I'll definitely cut her hair shorter, I didn't even think of the possibility that a puppy could get caught in it. I'll be sad to see her hair go. It's in better condition than my own! Luckily it grows pretty quickly.

I've been on a sewing kick lately. I made Roxie a dog bed from scratch, with no pattern! It looks so cute. Obviously she won't be using it with her pups but now I think I'm going to whip a few flannel blankets to line her big whelping kennel.

I just realized that Roxie could whelp in as little as 8-9 days.. I think I'm going into panic mode. I feel like I'm the pregnant one, with all the nesting I'm doing. LOL.

Laura- can't wait to be on puppy watch for ya!

You and I sound A LOT alike. I spent last weekend sewing some flannel blankets that line the bed I made to go into Roxy's whelping box. I'm a little unnerved today because when i took Roxy's temp this morning it was 99.0. She isn't due until Monday (although I would LOVE for her to whelp during the weekend), I'm still having to go to work and I'm worried that she may be in early stages of labor. Although the only sign i've seen so far is the slightly low temp. I'm going to have my friend go and check on her throughout the day.. but I"m still worried.

That would unnerve me a little! I hope she doesn't go into early labor. The weekend would be a great time to have the puppies. (Are you listening, Roxy? lol)

I'm nervous about the temp-taking because Roxie's little bum is raw. She's been having issues with pooping lately and that area is really sensitive. I guess I'll have to buy a huge bottle of lube!

Here's a pic of the receiving blanket I made last night, hehe.. I know it's fancier than she needs, but I had insomnia, so I decided to have fun with it.

oh your blankie is adorable and I know you can't wait to have those babies on it and take some pictures to post on here. Good Luck to all of you with your August whelpings!! I just had my very first litter two weeks ago and I am still in awe. What a blessing it is to be able to have this experience.:animal-pa
