| I just couldn't keep my dogs inside all the time, I'm a firm believer in letting them outside to play it's very important to get outside and be a dog and be able to play and romp and the sunshine is GREAT for them!! My show dogs wouldn't be the good show dogs if they didn't experience the outdoors. My puppies even get to enjoy the wonders of outside! What a beautiful experience to see puppies playing in the grass, chasing each other and trying to catch the birds! Can you imagine kids having to stay indoors all the time? But I guess to each their own ![]() Donna |

| I believe she may have had a silent heat too. I have had that happened - and she was so clean and almost missed it. She was not even swollen much at all. My yorkies go on our back porch several times a day and they love it. Because of the way our yard is, the back porch is up one story. Well, when they get on the back porch they will run and chase one another from one end to the other. They will bark at the horses or they will sit on the seats that go around the porch and just watch what goes on in the yard and field below. It is a covered porch so they get plenty of shade. I do not leave them out long in the summertime, too hot here. They love it out there and feel that it is good for them. It is also good for getting exercise and help those muscles. Yes, they run in the house too, but so much more room on the back porch. |

| I will always have a place where they can get out in the grass with lots of room to play and romp and enjoy themselves LOL...if I kept them on the patio I hate picking up poop lol...my husband de poops the yard so that way I dont have too LOL... We have a doggie door they can come in and out when the weather permits I will leave my back door open and the doggie door is in the screen door. I just have a couple that will just not go to the bathroom in the house, pee pads or not they HAVE to go outside to potty and in the grass LOL...but the rest when it's raining will go on the pee pads but Brookie will wait until she can go outside rain, snow or shine LOL...she's a good housebroken little girl!!! | Of course ideally I would love for mine to go outside. Of course some go out on a leash if I am training one for show but other than that they stay indoors. We build a room that goes across the back of the house and it has 6 huge windows so they can get up on a low bench and watch outside and bark at the cats and other critters. Also, many of them lay on the back of the couch that is in front of two big windows and they sun themselves and in the kitchen there are two big window that let in lots of sunshine in the afternoon. I see them in there sunning themselves often. When we first moved here we had a small fenced area and I would let everyone out and they would eat things they shouldn't and come in and get sick. Plus being way out in country we have lots of fire ants and snakes to worry about. A huge tree fell during the hurricane last year and took out a large part of back yard fence so we have to rebuild it now. |

| Oh we have critters, fire ants ect but we treat our yard for those things, and make sure there is nothing in the back yard to get them and of course they get something they shouldn't but they get things in my house they shouldn't too LOL...they are doggies ![]() I'm sorry Barb if you think I'm picking on ya but I"m not, I have many friends that don't let their dogs outside or even put them on the ground it just means I don't agree with it and I prefer my dogs to experience everything since they are animals. I"m just a firm believer that a well socialized and healthy dog need the outside, fresh air ect to build character, muscle tone and a healthy attitude....I guess that's why I have well adjusted puppies and adults and all are happy go lucky. I've never had a shy or timid pup in any of my litters. Donna |

But, they do need fresh air and sunshine to thrive and be happy. Since all of sudden the hot weather has it hit here, they prefer not to be out doors too long....just enough to do their business and sniff whatever is on the ground and right back in.

My back porch is across the whole back of the house and we live in a ranch style home, so it is huge. And the way the house is positioned it is mostly shady back there and it is covered too. They love it! But they tell me when they want back in, especially right now - doesn't take them long. | |
