Thanks for sharing what happened to your litter sadI live on a farm too and so far have never had a flea problem. And all my ducks geese and chickens free range so I couldnt treat it even if we did. But the Dawn is a great thing to know if you even suspect your bitch may be pregnant. OT how are your lil puppies doing now?

| Actually any kind of shampoo will kill fleas!...It does not have to be Dawn dish liquid or dish liquid at all...Make sure you soap up around the head and ears first , then the tail end to make sure fleas do not go down ears, in eyes, nose or rectum to hide...I am a groomer and I never use toxic shampoos on anyones pets...Also Advantage washes off where Frontline does not!...So if you bathe your yorkie between doses you are wasting your money on Advantage...I do not use any flea preventatives on any of my intact dogs...I do treat the others with Frontline and that seems to work for me! ~Laura

| I just sprayed my male and female with Frontline spray last night. They tied for the first time this morning. Will it be bad on my female if she gets PG? I definately won't put it on her from now until she has puppies that is if she gets pg. Just curious if it would effect her since I sprayed her right before conception. |

That is great information. I was confused as to why "only" the dawn brand of dish liquid. I am guessing it is something gerneral in the soap? Forgive me, I've never bathed to kill fleas so I do not know, but I use a preventative when there are no babies on the way. Last edited by ButterflyYorkie; 03-25-2008 at 01:59 PM. | |

Frontline Plus is the only flea preventative that I am aware of (I know Advantage has not done this) that has conducted the studies to prove it is safe for pregnant and lactating bitches and queens. I would use that on a pregnant gal if I had a big flea problem, as I think having fleas is more risky to the health of the dam and of course the puppies. Just please do not use OTC flea products!!!!!
