It's actually higher than normal...

Her normal temp is around 100.2

Yesterday during the day it was 100.2
Last night it dropped to 99.1
About an hour ago it was 100.6

Hi there! Could you let Brooklyn know I don't have any more nails left so that I can chew; if she can make up her mind and have the babies already!

My guess is a temp drop for her will be low 98's to 97's...I would be taking it about 4 times a day, if it gets low (98.5 or less) then I take it every 2 hours to see if it is staying down. If the temp is just flucuating and not staying down for 12-24 hours then it is not a true temp drop.

You will see flucuations in the temp as the body lowers the progesterone level to allow for labor to begin, that is why there is one huge temp drop right before labor...the progesterone drops off and jump starts the hormone reaction needed for labor!

Just keep letting her rest...and my fingers are crossed all is well.
I would say she was panting either from discomfort or the added heat of all those babies in there. They can actually nest for a week or more before delivery!

Yeah, I know that's typical, but I'm not sure she is...her last litter she didn't have a temp drop at all...so I can't say for sure if hers is reliable. I take her temp AT LEAST every 4 hours. Her temp stayed down at 99.3 for about 15 hours last night...so I figured that was probably it. My mentor has never had any luck taking temps (they have never been accurate for her), so she told me not to even pay attention, but I'm too paranoid not to do it at all. I figured as much about the nesting and panting...because I know for sure she hasn't been in any hard labor (obviously I suppose haha). Thanks for the info though, I always like to pick up more!

Yes it really is...I figured they would be out by now...I'm not sure it's possible for her to grow anymore...haha

She is a Yorkie she is waiting for the weekend.
Thats what mine do, they wait until after 5 on fridays then it can be anytime after that with mine once the regular vets have gone home.

hahaha, very true...luckily I have a network of people to call, including a vet who works 7 days a week and can be reached at home as well...thank God.

She could go 63 days from the last breeding.
I was reading up and found out why their temperature goes down - thought it was interesting. It is natures way so when the pups are born they are not so shocked with the air temperature when they come out.
Bes of luck. Also when her temp. goes down and stays there - do not let her go more than two days without her whelping - go to the vet. I found this out with this litter I have now and good thing I took my girl in.
