| Ok, as of a few minutes ago her temp is 98.2...this has GOT to be it. How long do I give her after the initial temp drop? Last night around 8PM it dropped to 98.9...then by midnight it was 98.6. So I suppose it has been around 14 hours or so since the initial drop. |

| Okay,I got this information from the book - The Joy of Breeding Your Own Show Dog, by Ann Seranne. " if the temperature drops below 99 defrees and stay there for more than 48 hours without any signs of labor call your vet. The average temp for whelping is 99.2 degrees, but this is just an average. A bitch can still whelp with a 100. or as low as 98.2 - " I know this drop and no signs of delvery, since I just went through it with my girl and ended up with a c-section and lost a pup. I cannot believe how some people think that breeding is going to be easy - you just put two dogs together and later she has pups on her own. Wrong!!! I am always so nervous before they whelp and glad I do not do this often. Best of luck!! I am sure she will do okay with you on top of things. Tina |

| We have watched temps very closely for years...and if she is anything like our girls, then I would say hard labor should begin 12-24 hours from the lowest temp. She may still go lower, usually it is a very abrupt drop, not gradual. But not always..lol... Keep us posted!
