Do you have something to cover up the x-pen with....she won't want anyone looking at her babies. You'll need to keep her in a quiet out of the way area....not an area that is open to every day traffic....

The blanket I have on my whelping area drapes down to cover her. She is now confined to her box and blanket has been draped part way. I took her temp again before i put her in it and it said 96.9

Looks like she's close....not all dogs nest, stop eating....all the normal signs...since she seems to be going under your dresser....she may be in the first stages of labor.....

Yes, thats where she will stay with her pups. My ex-pen goes around it.

Next time, you might want to invest in a puppy play pen.....that way you can raise the grates....cover the grates with rubber tiles, put her whelping box in there, then cover those with piddle pads (this also gives pups sure footing when they begin to walk. It gives you easier acess without your having to sit on the floor. Also, keeps the pups up higher, where it is warmer, as well as giving her more privacy....

I just got all her hair pulled back, so thats done. Temp is still low. I have been taking it about every 2 hours.

how long is her coat? here's why I'm asking....having the coat even a bit long, can be dangerous. Even experienced breeders have lost a pup to strangling in their mother's coat.....also, shaving her vaginal and breast area for sanitary purposes should be done.

Question, did you bathe her in a medicated shampoo? Something like Betidene....

Since it's this late in the game....the best thing to do is wrap it or braid it.....not only the possibility of strangling the puppies...but, later when she's let out to potty her coat will be dragging on the ground picking up germs, getting dirty. Call me anal...I just am.....when my dams go out....to potty, I make sure that their feet, legs, private area and breasts are thorougly cleaned before I put them back with the babies.

I usually cut down my girls as soon as I know they are with whelp.....not only for safety, sanitary reasons....but, also much quicker to dry them, therefore not keeping her away from pups for any great length of time.

she has not been going outside, just using the peepad. I have her belly and nipple area all shaved.
