Bragging about Eddie again

I got an e-mail from a woman who owns the obedience school where Eddie has taken a couple of classes. She's been asked to put on a demonstration for a summer camp of smart kids, and she wants me to join her with Eddie!

This is especially impressive because her dogs are awesome. Perfectly trained in obedience. Agility dogs, too.

But out of all her students, she chose Eddie, who has only taken two classes from her.

I'm excited, but I also turned into pageant...

Not enough time in the day

I'm tormented by the lack of attention I give my dogs.

Yes, yes, I take them on multiple walks a day and I engage them often when I'm home. But I think of the 10 hours I'm at work each day and the eight hours I sleep each night. That makes for 18 hours a day of a pretty boring life.

I come home on a dinner break and walk them, but it's 20 minutes at best. Our morning and evening walks total less than an hour.

The guilt comes after the walks and after...

I'm one of those people who goes through life trying to be nice. Life is too short not to be happy, and I consider it my civic duty to try to be cheerful. I don't care to associate with grumps, and I don't want to impose my attitudes on innocent people either.

But sometimes it's awfully hard to be cheerful.

My gripe today is with the Petco groomers. I've gone to them exclusively since we got Eddie 4 years ago. We're talking dozens of grooms at $50 a pop over that time....

It's amazing how the Internet sneaks up and takes over our lives. Well, at least mine. I honestly don't know what I did with my time before I became hooked.

My Internet day starts the moment I wake. While the coffee is brewing in the French press, I'm already signed on and checking my g-mail. I use that account mostly for YorkieTalk user notification messages. I can see if there are any new replies to my favorite threads.

The older Jack gets, the more I value my time with him. And the more I worry.

He's 12 now and pretty darned healthy. We've gone on two walks a day almost every day in the 2 years since we rescued him. And he keeps up pretty darned well, summer and winter.
