| ![]() Yes. I see it everyday. The spot on his chest is turning blonde like the hair on his head, but he has a white spot on his paws and under his chin as you can see from the pics. I think it gives him "character" ![]()

| ![]() Hi, I have some pups that are 3 weeks old. And one pup has white tips on her back feet. And the boy has a white spot on his chest. The boys spot is already starting to fade. So i dont think it is that big of a deal. I think they go away. But i do wonder why the spots are there? I told my shih-tzu (Fitz) that if he wasn't fixed i would be very suspicious!! ![]()

| ![]() I'm pretty sure white anywhere on the dog isn't breed standard. But if you aren't raising show quality pups, I don't think it matters.... |

| ![]() How can it not be breed standards when these are full blood AKC reg. pups? And when the spots fade who will know they were even there ? A friend of mine had some half shih-tzu half yorkie pup. And they didnt have any spots . They just looked like yorkies. So i guess they where more of a yorkie breed standard then?

| ![]() White on thier chest or paws is comon in yorkie puppies and does not determine breed standard. It will probablly either go away or become undetectable as he/she gets older. |

http://www.akc.org/breeds/yorkshire_terrier/index.cfm White is not a color that is 'supposed' to be on a yorkie pup. As for how it got there, who knows. Just because a puppy is full akc blood registered doesn't mean it's going to fit the standard 100%. And if the white fades, then nobody will know it was there. | |

| ![]() You have nothing to worry about! a white spot on the chest is not abnormal (perhaps 45 - 50% are born with minor white marking within the "star area of the chest" or a slight foot marking) over time these will blend into the rest of the coloring becoming unnoticable. These puppies are "not considered substandard" and if show quality would not be disqualified and perhpas even missed by the well educated eye. Check your puppies toe nails if they are truely black you are fine. If they are on the brown side then that is unacceptable but there again the judges DO NOT check toe nails lol. I hope this helps

The white markings on a puppy are not substandard nor defective gene throwback. The best of champions bitches have whelped many with white markings more often within the "star of the chest" some of these babies too go on to be champions themselves...

| ![]() As other members have said..White on the chest or feet is perfectly normal. Infact in The Complete Yorkshire Terrier, by Gordon and Bennett, denotes a good coat growth. White on the black saddle is another story and not acceptable on a standard color Yorkie. |

| ![]() Of course you are correct when it comes to white on an adult coat. Pups are born everyday with white on the chest and tips of the feet..born in the finest show kennels and everywhere else. I am sure your mentor will tell you by the time they are a few months old..sometimes a few weeks old, the white blends into the gold and is gone. When it is on a foot it grows right off the end and turns a proper color gold..and if you did not see the pup before 8 weeks or so you would never know it had a white toe or two. Gordon/Bennett of Wildweir were and one still is among the most knowledgeable in the Yorkie world..pick up their book and you will see the sentence..White on a chest denotes a good coat grower.. All things being equal, I will favor a touch of white on the chest of a puppy..I find in my line it means a wonderful silk coat. |

| ![]() Mentors are like noses everyone has one . I have one to . She has raised several breed in her 50 years of showing. And she said that some of her best show dog were born with white spots. She said that's how she knew what one to show. The spots were a big "show me sign".My sweetpea was born with white on her chest and back feet and she was beautiful. But to agree with you she did say that if the white spots don't go away they can not be shown. Picture of my beloved sweetpea. May she rest in peace . And breeth easy.
