Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | ![]() it is said that dogs eat their poop for two reasons. 1) they are trying to keep their territory/house/area clean. This is more common in females. Some dogs, instead of dirtying their yard, will decide to poop in the neighbors yard. 2) they are lacking a type of nutrient but i have no idea how eating poop fixes that. there are a few ways to break the habit. 1) pick up the poop right away. 2) put her on a leash to go outside to potty and when she goes to turn around and eat it give her a little tug and tell her no or leave it, then walk her away. 3) put something in her food to make the poop taste bad (deter, forbid). 4) put something on the poop to make it taste bad (meat tenderizor, hot sauce, anything that tastes bad).

| ![]() I want to welcome you to yt. I didn't have that problem with Murfee but I have seen several threads on here about something you can sprinkle on their food that makes them stop that habit. Maybe you can do a search...but I can't help with that either 'cause I am such a computer dummy ![]()

| ![]() I don't know if this means anything but when I switched Samson from dry food to only wet food he stopped eating his poo. I can't swear by it because I always watched him like a hawk and picked up asap and that may have stopped him. Or he just may have grown out of it (he's 5 and half months). But I had him on all wet for about 2 weeks (prior I did both and he still ate it) and one day I noticed that I wasn't having to be so aggressive on removing his poo because he wasn't interested anymore. Maybe it's a combination of everything but I'm just glad it stopped!! ![]()

| ![]() Sometime ago there was a thread about this very problem and a poster suggested changing brand of kibble. I did that and my poo-eater has stopped. Don't know if it is a coincidence or if it actually worked. ![]() ![]() ![]() Joanne ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
