YT 2000 Club Donating Member | It truly is fun. The dogs just love it. You get to go through tunnels, walk on a teeter totter, weave poles et al. It is a high energy sport. It's best if they have basic obedience commands down, sit/stay, down/stay, and a good recall or come.

| That looks like a whole lot of fun. I miss having the BRTs around. I had one over the other week for ten days and a poodle BRT cross over at christmas time. So I still get my momments of BRT cuddles. Looks like a BRT pinic is in the works for ths summer so will get to see more of my former kennel kids. I am awaiting the arrival in around 4 weeks of my working girl. My current dog is sound enough to get a pup in house all the time and get going on the fun stuff plus will show as well. That mixed with fostering I have had a busy go. The joys of having my own house as it allows me to expand the family and a yard to train in. JL

| Thanks for posting! It was great seeing the yorkies in the agility! I will have to show my husband this eve - he will also enjoy! We keep talking about trying to get our little Gidget in agility, but haven't gotten around to it - I've been having some health issues lately. I was wondering - I've always heard people saying about how fragile yorkies legs are...do you need to have a larger yorkie to get into agility? Gidget is only 4.15 lb. |

In terms of fragility I would check with my vet first. Some of our Yorkies have dense bones or thicker boney structure, and some have pretty thin bones comparatively speaking. You would want sound knees and hips and elbows, because the jumping does stress these joints. You can see the different heights of the jumps when you compare the BRT's and the yorkies jumping same equipment just different heights or widths. Then I would make sure my dog is in good physical condition before agility. That means daily walks, try hills up and down, or an in home treadmill. Swimming is an excellent conditioning and or rehabilitation activity. If hills are not available, and your house has stairs, leash the pup up and you and she walk up and down stairs for 10-15 minutes a day. Now if agility is not for your pup, try rally, it is top notch fun, and there are no jumps involved.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Very Sad News indeed I just heard that Pasha died. 12 years old - and now only Magic is left of our training buds (BRT), and Lola the Yorkie. So many many memories. I do muse on how special dog owners must be. For we do know in our hearts that our dogs will only be with us a short while. And yet we bond so deeply, care so freely, knowing that one day we must say good-by to a piece of our heart and our life. RIP dearest Pasha - you touched so many lives and gave so much to this breed.

| I am just seeing this, Gail, and I'm truly sorry. Your training group must have been really special with Lola and Magic in it and also you and Ilona. They are both such amazing dogs, and I'm sure Pasha was, too. It's true that we lose a piece of our hearts when we lose one who is loved so dearly, but the part that remains still holds an infinite amount of love for those we've lost. I still hold each of my babies so dearly in my heart, even though they are no longer physically with me. That love and bond can never be taken away from us. It's amazing how our heart can expand again to love another pup, while always holding very dear the ones we've lost. Our hearts have surely swelled to love Katie so dearly without holding back one bit, even though eventually our hearts will be broken to pieces once again. It's to painful for me to consider it, actually. Our babies, whether big or small, are worth every bit of love and pain we feel. They enrich our lives and make them so much better. Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your special friend. Hold those memories dear. I'm sure you had many magical moments with your training buds.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Thanks Lisa. I do have many fond memories of Pasha and the gang. I read just recently but can't recall the author - a short poem - this opinion was expressed: "With each dog we lose, we lose a piece of our heart, for each dog we own we gain back a piece of our heart - but it is not the same heart - it is a heart that has been touched by a dog - before I die I hope that my heart is all doggey heart"

| That's beautiful, Gail. I read through an article and all the responses that I found interesting and heartbreaking today. I used to read things like these to help me prepare for eventually losing my close to seventeen year old little girl, Ashley. Nothing I could do could prepare me for losing her, though. I learned from losing Ashley's sisters a few years before that she would always be a part of me, and that my love for her, like all of them, would never diminish. The pain always remains, as well, but that gets easier to bear in time. I must be crazy to read such painful stories, but they had a common theme. These dogs have such a beautiful, lasting, loving and profound impact on our lives. The memories and the love remain and also the invaluable messages our dogs teach us about loving and life. I appreciate every precious moment I spend with Katie; she surely is a priceless gift. I don't think I need to remind myself of how blessed I am to have her. I always think of my Rainbow Bridge babies with such a powerful, overflowing love, and I still don't find their losses easy to cope with, yet that doesn't mean I haven't had a happy life. My little girls will always be very loved babies, even though they only live inside my heart. However, I'm drawn to help others who have experienced life altering losses to help to ease their pain, and I guess that's why I continue to read such difficult pieces. I pray it will be a very long time before you have to cope with another loss. Your Zoey and Karma were so lucky to be loved by you. So are Magic, Razzle, and Dara.
