| Looking for Gnenetically tested Yorkie in Georgia I live in Georgia and am wanting to purchase a male and female Yorkie Puppy from a reputable breeder that produces Genetically tested Puppies that are of breed standards. I am looking to have a few dogs for in home breeding. I am starting to read up on diseases and other Yorkie information. THat is why I am looking for Puppies, so that by the time They are able to and ready to have puppies I will have had my "homework" done. I donto want to just breed poor quality Yorkies. I want HEALTHY yorkies I can be proud of. If anyone can refer me to someone that breeds genetcially tested Yorkies that they sell and allow breeding rights to , please let me know. I have looked, but only find those that do not allow breeding rights. Not sure how to go about all of this and that is why I was hoping someone here might be able to direct me. ANy advice starting out is also very much apprecaited! Thank you in advance! |

| Might want to post this in the breeders' section. There are ethical breeders on this site. I have read that a new breeder needs to find a mentor who is willing to work with you. Good luck in your endeavor. Great to hear that you want to go about things the right way. ~Joanne~

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-answered.html Let me add to the above paragraph. Reputable breeders will run "their" breeding pair through all the required testing prior to breeding. However, most will bile acide test their pups. The additional required testing on a breeding pup will be at the cost of the purchaser. If said tests are performed on the pup, by the breeder, the cost will be passed onto the new owner. As those tests are very costly. And one must remember said tests will only reveal that the pup is free of those defects, but will not prove the pup is not a carrier. There is no DNA marker as yet.

| P.S. I have given the OP information: Yorkshire Terrier Club of America site and showing sites, as well as a very highly reputable breeder near her to help answer her questions and direct her. |

The OP poster is looking for dogs for breeding, I don't think there are YTCA members that would sell a breeding dog to anyone with out the dog being Championed and a tight contract.

I'm still of the opinion if someone sells a breeding dog on open registration to anyone without knowing that person on a personal level. One needs to run in the opposite direction.....breeders selling dogs that way are just out to make money and have no concern for their dogs. To the OP.... Puppies for Sale by Joy.......big broker.....it's all about the money...

| Why on earth would anyone give the Joy persons name as a good person to get a Yorkie (or any breed) from. She has listed seven different breeds and two (that I seen) of cross breeds. In my opinion this person is nothing more than a money hungry munger and shouldn't be worth anyone saying anything good as far as their breeding practice goes. If I were looking for another Yorkie I would feel very put out if someone told me of a greeder like this. There are many reputable breeders out there but, a buyer has to earn the right to have full breeding rights and even then there are alot of stipulations that go along with it if you want a puppy that is going to be anything at all. If (and this is my personal opinion) I had posted this Joy persons name and told someone she was a reputable person to buy from I would be hanging my head in shame...
