Let me add to the above paragraph. Reputable breeders will run "their" breeding pair through all the required testing prior to breeding. However, most will bile acide test their pups. The additional required testing on a breeding pup will be at the cost of the purchaser. If said tests are performed on the pup, by the breeder, the cost will be passed onto the new owner. As those tests are very costly. And one must remember said tests will only reveal that the pup is free of those defects, but will not prove the pup is not a carrier. There is no DNA marker as yet.
