| What type of kennel is best for everyday? I'm looking online for kennels and I can't decide, so I thought I'd ask the pros. I'm looking for a kennel for everyday use...a main kennel. The kennel she will sleep in and stay in when we have to leave her home alone for an hour or so while she is still potty training, etc. I like the idea of a soft-sided kennel for comfort and ease of use on my end, but then the wire kennels have sturdiness going for them. What does everyone recommend? Any tips are greatly appreciated! Our doxie has a wire kennel but he spends very little time in it, and he chews everything to pieces to spite us for putting him in it, so that's his only option. These are the 2 I'm looking at. (It's pathetic that I'm this indecisive about even the most minute decisions! lol) Walmart.com: Petnation Port-A-Crate E-24: Dogs Walmart.com: Remington Wire Dog Kennel, Medium: Dogs

| I prefer the soft sided kennels. I like that I can easily pick them up and move them around if needed. I know some dogs will chew their way out of them though. Mine are very good about going in quietly if needed and not causing a fuss, so I have a super cheapo one from bed, bath, and beyond and have never had an issue with it.

| Thanks for the input! I'm reallllly leaning towards soft-sided because they are cheaper and look so much easier to use. Plus, Petsmart has an adorable pink one on sale.

| I much prefer the wire kennels. Our Yorkies need such a small size, it is still very portable and easy to move. Puppies CHEW! An older dog might do okay in a soft side but I haven't seen any puppies of mine that would not chew through. I have one out in the garage to prove that point. Don't know why I havwen't thrown it away. I had it in mind that I could repair but I doubt that will happen. The fabric ones also can harbor germs more easily and are more difficult to clean thoroughly. If it is going to be for any length of time, I just use a play yard. I like the plastic ones as they are lighweight, sturdy, and clean easily. I have this one and it has been a Godsend through 2 litters of puppies. I can still use it if I want to keep my 3 penned up while I do things like mop the floors. North State Superyard XT Portable Playard and Gate - Walmart.com Walmart also has one made specifically for pets now: Walmart.com: IRIS 4 Panel Indoor/Outdoor Plastic Pen White: Dogs I like these a lot better if it is going to be more than an hour or during sleeping time. That way there is plenty of room for pee pads, food water, bed, and toys/play area.

| I LOVE that play yard from walmart! I have had the hardest time finding those wire kennels in a store lately. The only small one that Petsmart had was $98. Um...no thank you! Guess I'll keep looking. I'm thinking a soft-sided might be good for travel?? My MIL will be dog sitting sometimes and we take frequent trips out of state. Hm. So many choices!

If you do want to get a wire one and do not find it loal, Walmart willship to a Walmart near you with Free shipping. I do that every once in a while with Walmart. Their online selection is so much better than in the store. Then you just go back to Custmer Service and they have it waiting with your name on it.

| I don't know which of the two listed above you meant...but I bought the IRIS one and my 10 week old puppy scaled the side no problem. Look carefully at the pics of it...the horizontal bars are spaced such that it creates a ladder-type effect and makes it very easy to climb over. It looked cute was was a waste of money because it was dangerous to have a puppy falling from the top.
