The wire ones collapse flat and take up no more room than one side when you want to travel. My son & DIL always bring theirs like that when they visit. I have one of the travel crates I usually take on the road -- it is like this:

If you do want to get a wire one and do not find it loal, Walmart willship to a Walmart near you with Free shipping. I do that every once in a while with Walmart. Their online selection is so much better than in the store. Then you just go back to Custmer Service and they have it waiting with your name on it.
