| sick Fur Baby please help11 Hi everyone, My Yorkie has had a rough night. My Dad had Heart Surgery yesterday so Me and My Husband Were at the hospital all day. When We come Home, (I had Her shut in the Kitchen because She was in My Dads House). THere was a couple piles of vomit, and blood. I freaked out and hauled Her to the emergeny vet since it was around 11 pm. They wanted to keep Her and run all kinds of blood tests and everything and not including treatment would have been 400$ and I felt so bad but I didnt have the money so they gave Her a look over, No fever, pink gums, no tenderness, and gave Her some fluids. I called My Regualr vet now that its morning, they said to give Her white rice and see if that doesnt help. and to call them if She got worse and the runny gassey poo Shes having does not stop soon, also She had bloody poop last night but this morning its a brown runny color. Im sorry for how Im typing Im just in a panic ) : Worried sick for My Mitsi. Anyone have any ideas whats wrong or had a Yorkie with this before? The emergeny vet was saying all sorts of things like pancrititis, and something called GHE I think. But My Normal vet said it could just be an upset tummy. anyways Thank You for taking time to read this and post. I really really appriciate it MitSies Mom |

| Wow! Is it possible she could have ingested something toxic? What is in your dad's kitchen that she could have eaten. Or was she exposed to some cleaning solutions, etc., recently used? My first thought is something toxic before thinking it is an illness. |

| Stress can cause her to break with coccidia, which will cause the bloody stools. Chicken and rice will be gentle on her tummy.....usually, Albon and Flagyl is given to stop the diarrhea and treat the coccidia. If it was HGE, you would see large amounts of bloody stools....she may very well have gotten upset over being alone all day...and she may calm down now you are home and she knows someone is out there! If the bloody stools/diarrhea continue, you will have to seek treatment for her. Treatment from your private vet, during working hours will be a lot cheaper than the emergency vet, after hours....in other words, I personally would get that baby to YOUR vet today, get her diagnosed and treatment started, so you are not back at the er vet again tonight, in the middle of the night, in a life or death situation. |

| The blood and vomit is a sign something is not right, perhaps even very wrong. If this baby keeps vomiting & having diarrhea, you must get her help and it will likely take testing to get a firm diagnosis. A Yorkie can go downhill and get dehydrated fast and die from loss of fluid. If her condition worsens, you must get her help whatever you have to do to afford it. That is part of being a responsible dog owner and we owe our pets no less than good vet care when they are ill.

I called My regular vet and told them the situation. they told Me to give Her plain white rice and water and see if that fixes it, they also think it could be stress. The vet was not to worried since this morning Shes acting better , begging for food and the loose stools seem to be stopping, Im hoping its nothing to worry about just Her anxiety. not to mention She is trying to eat the white rice like a piggy. | |

| Sorry your sweet girl isn't feeling well. Sounds to me like anxiety. Change in environment and she can sense you are stressed and worried as well. My nieces Yorkie went through the same thing a couple of times. We were so worried about him, but after they ran tests ect...he was completely healthy just stressed himself out. I hope she feels better soon!

| This happened to my Princess once & although the blood in the poopie is alarming, it's very common in dogs. They can get stress colitis, inflammation of the colon. The symptoms are jelly like runny poo w/blood @ the end. Since she's vomiting, it can be pancreatitis, but blood work would show that. They can also get the above if they eat table scraps, got in the garbage, &/or ate high fatty foods. Vets usu prescribe an anti-biotic to kill the bacteria in the colon along w/ fluids bc they get dehydrated so fast. A bland diet of white rice & plain boiled chicken breast is best. You can add an insoluble fiber (to help w/the runs) like slightly boiled carrots, green beans or some pumpkin to help firm things up along w/probiotics if you have some. Hope she'll feel better soon!
