This happened to my Princess once & although the blood in the poopie is alarming, it's very common in dogs. They can get stress colitis, inflammation of the colon. The symptoms are jelly like runny poo w/blood @ the end. Since she's vomiting, it can be pancreatitis, but blood work would show that. They can also get the above if they eat table scraps, got in the garbage, &/or ate high fatty foods. Vets usu prescribe an anti-biotic to kill the bacteria in the colon along w/ fluids bc they get dehydrated so fast. A bland diet of white rice & plain boiled chicken breast is best. You can add an insoluble fiber (to help w/the runs) like slightly boiled carrots, green beans or some pumpkin to help firm things up along w/probiotics if you have some. Hope she'll feel better soon! |
