| Is this normal? When I rub Luma's tummy I notice that along the scar from her spay surgery it is all bumpy. It is healed up completely but under her skin it feels like tons of little pebbles. Like she has tiny rocks in her stomach. Is that to be expected? Maybe its scar tissue on the end of tissue pieces tjat were cut by the scalpel? Anyone know? Also...she's gonna KILL me for admitting this but...the vet totally sewed her up crooked! Her nipples are SO unaligned now..lol. I was upset when I first noticed, but it doesn't matter that much. Just looks funny.

| Carmen I am not sure...Jada had her spay over 3 years ago and I can't even see her scar. It may be scar tissue. I would call the vet and ask just to be sure.

| Doesn't sound normal at all. Jilly's scar was even, tiny and her nipples totally unaffected by her surgery! She had zero lumps or bumps or irregularities. But she was my only girl to have this surgery so she is all I've got to go by. My sister's Silkie was spayed and she had nothing like that and she was larger than Jilly, about 7 lbs. but her incision was bumpless, tiny and left her nipples even, too. That sounds awful! There should be no reason in the world to have to tug skin so much to close that tiny spay-surgery wound that then caused the nipples to be misaligned!!!! I believe I would get a second opinion on what is going on with the incision closure, healing and the lumps and bumps.

My Luci was spayed in July and I can feel that on her as well, but I can't see a scar line at all on her belly.

| I agree that it can be normal...I could feel bumps under Toki's incision for a few months after the procedure and only just recently haven't been able to feel them. I'm sorry about Luma's nipples...my sister's yorkie also has some uneven nipples lol so Luma shouldn't feel self-conscious about them |

| To he sure, I wil call and ask them about the stitches. I think they explained to me that they stitched her up under the skin..can't recall because I was so happy to be holding her again I didn't really listen lol. we didnt have to get them removed...they dissolved. Anyway the scar is HUGE. Like really long...id say between three and four inches. The scar itself has puckered skin like they did it carelessly. I will try to take a pic.

| Sophia's scar is very very faint, I can barely see it. But it is about 4 inches long. I don't feel any bumps though and we also had the dissolvable stitches. I'd give the vet a call!

| I found another thread like this one that I thought you might be interested in. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...spay-scar.html They're most likely internal stitches, but when in doubt, check it out. I'm a worry wart and I'd probably take her in just to make sure. Last edited by YorkOfTheShire; 09-06-2012 at 06:20 PM. |

| Hope she's gonna be okay. Sounds like some doggies do have these and a crooky scar is nothing new! The bumps are maybe little cyst-y things from the stitiches and the crummy-looking scar will no doubt heal and lose a lot of the swelling and thickened skin, etc., over time. In a year, you'll probably not even notice it but I sure would check it as you plan just in case those are little pus pockets or something funky. Let us know what the vet says.
