| neutering certificate Has anyone heard of friendsofanimals.org. If you pay $65 you can get a certificate to have your dog neutered or spayed (a little more for females) but you have to use a vet that participates. My vet doesn't participate but there is one not far from where I live. Would anyone use it? |

In a near by neighboring county they provide spay service for $45.00 (nuetering is less), and chipping services for another $20.00. It's a donation run spay/nueter and low cost vaccination clinic.

| I did the spay voucher for Kasha. It was 75 for her ( less for boys I think) but we had to look around at all the vets to make sure they were ok. It so happened that the one who spayed her I absolutely LOVED! She is doing great and it was so much better than the 450 we were quoted for her since we had 8 teeth pulled anyways. to spay vouchers just do your research & ask around about the vet you use.

| I just wanted to second the recommendations made for checking on pre-op blood work, safe anesthesia, and pain meds to bring home. All very important, imo. |

This is a different program, you need to research the vet who will take it ... if you do not like the vet , look for another as they have many different vets on their list. My vet does not take it, but i know here in my area of 2 good vets that accept it. The certificate will only cover the spay or the neuter it self, so make sure to ask about the "extras" you will need to pay out of your pocket, if i am not mistaken, blood work (organ screening) and any antibiotics. Still a great value and i do recommend it, as long as you check the vet you are going to use . The other posters mentioned anesthesia and blood work , these are all details you will need to check with the vet you choose to use. Some vets will include more on the "certificate" , others will not, and others will tell you the blood work is not mandatory or necessary . Research on what is best for your little one and choose a vet wisely. Of course for me blood work is essential, but wanted to let you know what it is. If you find a worthy vet in your area who takes it: Go for it ! You will save some "dough" . Good Luck ! XOXO
