| *UPDATE* Female that was bleeding & Tiny Timmy My girl, Cricket, was bleeding and she had puppies 13 days ago. Well she had not bled since the day they were born and just started bleeding yesterday. Well, I took her in and had one of the vets check her this morning and she is fine! YAY! I was freaking out. He said it was normal and just to make sure it doesnt get heavy and that she is acting fine. So, she is fine and glad to be home. She HATES the vets office! LOL On a sadder note, I took Timmy in with her.. He is my teeny boy who weighed 2 oz at birth. I weighed him today and he is 2.5 oz. Not much of a gain for him but it WAS something. He is acting weird, wont eat. I have given him glucose and he reluctantly takes it. He will not nurse. He just wants to sleep. I remove the other 3 from Cricket and put her alone with him and I pretty much put a nipple in his mouth and he just pulls away, crawls up on her a bit and sleeps... I dont know what else to do. I hope he is just sleepy and thats all but my gut is telling me differently. I hope I am wrong.

| get some nurti-drops and benebac overnited to you form one of the online petstores... or call all your local pet stores...you can get any gel that has "Lactobacillus" it is a good bacteria....and any liquid nurtridrop or cornsyrup only a drop each time 2- 3 times a day to help him along. it works wonders on a small weak puppy! if he is going to survive this will certainly help him. you may want to ask your vet to show you how to tube feed as well! great place to read up on it http://www.peteducation.com/article....&articleid=928 http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/B...befeeding.html http://www.leerburg.com/bottlefeeding.htm hope this helps and the little man makes it!

| Glad the mom is okay, but I would still keep a very close eye on her. Benebac is good - it's available at most pet stores and I have even seen it at Walmart. Did the vet say anything about putting Tiny Tim on amoxidrops? It's actually not common to lose one this old due to internal problems. Since you have kept him going this long I would think maybe a bacterial infection has developed. That isn't very much weight gain though - he must really be a fighter and you must really be doing a good job of caring for him. If he is too weak to eat, tube feeding him is the only chance you have. I'm surprised the vet didn't do this and teach you how while you were there. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | You need to start supplementing him. He has not gained enough weight. When they start to shut down, they won't be interested in nursing. I almost lost a pup once (and she was 4-5 weeks old). I had to give pedialyte every 2 hours and force feed every 4 hours.

| I would not advise giving nutrical to such a young/tiny pup. Please follow the advice given by experienced breeders.

| pup I am sorry your lost your tiny boy....if it ever happens again that a tiny does not gain weight you want to suppliement feedings if the pup is warm. I have bred for 35 yrs and totally disagree with the vet advise...I agree with Kimberly..Nutra DROPS are excellent, very different then Nutra Cal.....and learn to tube feed..it saves lifes. Any vet who would tell you to stop taking the advise of long time professional Yorkie breeders has an ego problem...and that was from the mouth of my own vet many years ago. He said he always valued a breeders experince. |

| I also disagree with your vet , if a puppy isn't eating then Nutridrops or Nutrical is necessary. It can hasten dehydration, but death will occur without it. I don't have much faith in a vet that sees a tiny puppy on death's doorstep and does absolutely nothing to help him. In the very least he could have given sub-q fluids. Vets that don't want you to educate yourself are only worried that you will question their knowledge. My vet is the President of the Veterinary Association and he never minds me interjecting my knowledge, but also disagrees with me at times, and fully explains why. |

| pup The reason you should not use Nutra Cal is because of the consistancy..it is thick..the drop form of course is a liquid that goes into the blood stream very fast.. |

please for all of you new breeders dealing with weak pups... NEVER FEED NUTRICAL NEVER FEED A CHILLED PUP to boost a weak puppy only use a drop of each twice a day (on to your finger and then wipe onto their tongue) always keep it on hand - these should be a staple in your whelping supplies! NUTRIDROPS BENEBAC
