| Is She Sick? I had a litter of yorkies they will be eight weeks old tomorrow. On one of the girls I noticed a piece of dried popo. It was very hard and I had to soak her in water to get it off. Her popo hole is a lot bigger than the other ones and the mama keeps licking it. She isn't as active as her brothers and sisters. I am having my sister take her home tonight to make sure she is eating and using the bathroom and to get some extra attention. What does this sound like to you? Should I take her to the vet now or wait until tomorrow to see if she is eating and pooing? |

| I am not a breeder. Hopefully a breeder will see this and respond but it just sounds like she is constipated to me.

| My best guess would be that she is constipated and I would give her a teaspoon or two of canned pumpkin without any spices. |

| My little 8-week old pup had a similar problem when I first got him. He has some poop stuck to his rectum (and I'm not sure some of it wasn't a scab) - but I cleaned him off with warm water - and his little opening was also a little swollen, red, and irritated. But I kept him clean and put some vaseline on him - and he was soon just fine. If he had some poop stuck to his rectum - the mother probably worked diligently to clean this area - and this may have caused some irritation with constantly licking. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| I would wait until tommorow. Maybe you can contact your vet and asked them what to do.
