| Lymphoma Diagnosis It has been confirmed Boomer has High-Grade Lymphoma. I am going to call around for an oncologist consult tomorrow. From what I am told it has already passed his lymph nodes so more advance. However, all my research online states that even with treatment it could only give him an extra year or two. I am not sure that it would be worth it to put him through such awful treatments for only a short time. I want to keep him happy and pain-free as long as possible. If anyone has dealt with this I would love to hear stories. Right now he barely eats and is constantly shaking. I bought him a sweater so I hope that helps. He is always curled up in a ball next to me.

| I'm very sorry. When Sammy my moms yorkie was diagnosed with it we opted not to treat it because we didn't want him to suffer so we just enjoyed the time we had.

| I'm truly sorry to hear about Boomer. Our babies steal our hearts immediately, and it's difficult to bear when they are ill. Yorkietalk member Gemy chronicled her treatment of her four year old Black Russian Terrier Zoey, who had lymphoma. Zoey tolerated chemotherapy fairly well, but her lymphoma was aggressive, and the chemotherapy only helped to alleviate her symptoms. It was very painful for her to watch her young lass suffer from this insidious disease. The thread contains some useful information. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/our...pray-zoey.html

| I don't know how old your baby is but my Sparky has lymphoma & has been in remission now for 4 1/2 yrs. He will not die from the cancer as he's been in kidney failure for a couple of yrs now & has been on RX food & Azodyle & Epakitin for nearly a yr now for the kidney failure. We know he will not live forever but have no regrets in choosing the Chemo. My vet AND Sparkys Oncologist told us there is good success with Chemo these days but it depends on the stage & IF the cancer has entered any organs AND if the cells are the good cells or the bad cells. Sparky had stage 4 lymphoma and the good cells & he was 9 yrs old at diagnosis. We chose to do the Chemo BUT also contacted a Holistic vet who sent us vits, supplements and a couple of home cooking recipes to help support Sparkys little body through the Chemo & he barley missed a beat. Sparkys Oncologist told us life expectancy is 6 mo to 3 yrs with the majority being 12 to 14 months, so we just didn't tell Sparky those odds because we didn't want to discourage his recovery Prayers for your baby & for you. |

This was our journey which I hope won't be yours. In terms of lymphoma I don't think there are right nor wrong decisions eg whether to treat with chemo or just use supportive treatments. Try and get creative with the food. Zoey would eat one thing one day and turn her nose up at it the next.

| Update on Oncologist Quote:
The food sounds exactly like Boomer right now. I have a Consult appointment for Monday but am trying to see if they can see me on Saturday. I had to send over Boomer's entire medical records for them to review. Once the doctor reviews it they will determine if he needs to be seen sooner. The receptionist said that with Lymphoma they try and get the dogs in ASAP because of how fast it progresses. I am still not sure about Chemo I have heard both good and bad stories but I will go in with an open mind. I am hoping maybe there is a drug I can give him that isn't chemo that at least will alleviate any pain he is in. He is still shaking constantly and barely eating so I asked the oncologist office if there is anything I can give him. My vet wants to wait and see what the oncologist suggests before prescribing any meds. This is tough but I am trying to be strong. I hope to get in on Saturday as the waiting for the next steps are hard on me.

| I am so sorry you are faced with such a difficult diagnosis. Boomer is lucky to be so loved and to have a family who will explore all options and then make decisions that are best for him. I wish you and your boy the best. I hope we can hear happy sharing...that he will be one of the pups who does well.

| Yes, Lymphoma does spread very fast & they will usually get you in ASAP. Also your vet is correct in NOT giving anything til his appt as something given now could postpone the Chemo & you Don't want that, If you choose Chemo. My Holistic vet told us there are things he could give Sparky that work just as well as Chemo & also told us that it would NOT give Sparky any longer as far as remission. He told us to decide what route we wanted to go & let him know. I really like him as he does NOT try to cover up the hard facts of this nasty disease. We chose to do the Chemo but went with supportive care from our Holistic vet & Sparky did really well. As far as the good & bad cells, be SURE to ask the oncologist about this as it definitely makes a difference. I think Sparky really only had 5 bad days throughout & he basically just slept all day but never stopped eating or drinking. |

| I am so very sorry. I did have a foster dog named Buster that had Lymphoma and he did go to an oncologist for treatments so that he could feel better. Sounds as if you have been a great mom to Boomer. Hugs.
