| limes desease Hi all..... Just got some results form the vet and he said that my dog has limes disease. He gave me meds to give him and said he had it a while. I di not see and ticks on my dog and I do give him preventative but not in the dead of winter when the temp is usually under 40 degrees. Does anyone know about lime disease in dogs. What prompted the blood work for the disease was my dog had a somewhat bloodshot left eye. Can this be cured in dogs....I did not get the chance to talk to the vet about it cause I was in a meeting and we were talking a long time about some other issues (for which the owner of the vet clinic is going to call me). I almost really dot have too much faith in these vets any more but I am very concerned about my baby....I hope this is not fatal. Please help if you can. Tina

| Yes I know all to well about lyme disease. I am sorry that your dog has lyme disease. My dog Daisy had it and she did not have any symptoms except that she was starting to limp so I brought her in to the Vet. Lyme disease can lay dormant in their system and flair up at any time. I would like to suggest that you get your dog on probiotics which helps build their immune system.. here is some information on lymeLyme Disease (Borreliosis) in Dogs sending prayers for your little one.

| I'm so sorry your baby has Lyme. My dog had Lyme. Started off with limping for one day for no reason . Took her to the emergency Vet and she tested positive for Lyme. Yes it's treatable. I had to give her pills once aday for 20 days. That was 3years ago. I was told she would test positive for Lyme for the next 3 to 5 years. I have to check her levels yearly to make sure they are going down. So now 3 years later she is still testing positive for Lyme but her levels are low. She doesn't need any meds for it now. I kinda blame myself for her getting Lyme because people told me not to give her the Lyme Shot. Saying it was very doubtful she would get Lyme, but she did get bite with a deer tick and got Lyme. I could have prevented it by giving the shot. I really had to think long and hard about giving my Chloe who was only 3 lbs at the time the Lyme Shot. But in talking with my Vet in the end I decided for her to get the shot because of the area where we live and because my other dog got Lyme. So now both my girls get the Lyme Shot. Oh yes my girls get the Frontline Plus applied monthly year round along with their heatworm pill. |

| Poor little baby. Don't blame yourself. It's been found and now you can treat it! If you have little with in your vet then I would suggest looking for a new one. I trust my vet completely and think it is a necessity for your peace of mind. Good luck and prays your baby gets well soon.

| If it is a deer tick (I think that's what it is called) they will get so engorged with blood that yes they could fall off. They are the big gray ticks. Or at least in my area.

| spoke with the vet today and he said that the tick could have fallen off and that they can be as small as a pencil point. He also said that the test showed that Pucci has had Lyme for about 3weeks. I have the meds for him and have been given it to him...the vet said that I do not need a follow up blood test not even in a year cause he will show positive for about 2 to 3 yrs. I just do not trust him how could I ....I just found out the he was giving my 2 Yorkies Boardatella for the past 3 yrs against my wishes and billing me for it. I trusted him so I never checked the bills just paid him. When I told him I did not want to pay for it this yr he almost totally ignored me by saying that the shots are not a bad thing to do. I am about ready to take him to court. Have to get this Lyme stuff straightened out at least in my head. Then I will deal with him. I am still very distraught.......but now Pucci looks and acts great.....whew what a relief that is. My baby is going to beat this I will see to that. Tina

| I'm so sorry about your vet. I would suggest starting to research different vets in your area. Trust is just so important. Glad Pucci is doing well!
