| Lucy was treated for Lymes a few months ago. 1st of my dogs to ever get it. She did get the yearly vaccine but it is not 100%. I rarely if ever see a tick on her. She prefers to sun bath on the deck to being in the grass or hiking. Roxy in the other hand loves to chase the local wildlife, hike, and play in the grass. She has at least 2-6 ticks on her a day. It is only a matter of time before she tests positive.

| I personally don't have experience with Lyme disease, but it is very treatable if caught early. My vet didn't want Katie to have a Lyme vaccine. He said the shot wasn't fully safe, and if Katie caught the disease, it could easily be treated. Usually once a dog is given doxycycline, it responds to treatment immediately. My vet also prefers titers over giving the booster shot. Sometime, but not often, you can see a bulls-eyes ring if a dog is bitten by a deer tick. Deer ticks are very, very tiny and easily missed. I hope your baby gets better very soon and responds quickly to the doxycyline and that there will be no residual pain from it. |

| Not really. I live in Hunterdon County about 20 min. from the PA border. Major deer and Lyme country here!

| Oh great...Pucci is not symptomatic as far as joint discomfort. But then the reason for the test was a bloodshot eye so I guess the vet thought that could be a symptom....Really don't know what to do. Right now I feel that I can't trust any Vet.

| So true! Wishing your furrbutt a speedy recovery! Lymes is much easier to treat in dogs than people. Lucy did not get an upset stomach at all from the Doxy. while I on the other hand had to take 3 anti emetics to stop from vomiting when I was treated for Lymes. PS I got the vaccine when it was available and still got the disease. Ticks are a way of life in my area esp. if you spend anytime outdoors. With 4 dogs- 2 of which are very active I spend a ton of time outdoors and in wooded areas!
