| Just Lost my best Friend.. HI there, my 9 and a half year old yorkie, Wisdom, passed away last night in my wife's arms. She was diagnosed less than a year ago with LYMPHANGIECTASIA. We thought it was being managed (she was on predsone and Royal Canin dog food and vitamin) and was her normal self. We had to drain her stomach twice in last 2 months but she seemed to be doing great. Personality was normal, good bowel movements, active, barking at noises, appetite, etc... she had however lost weight over the last little while and was very bony and skinny. Vet told us she was palliative care. Has anyone else had experience with this?? From everything I read, this is usually manageable and yorkies can last 4 or more years with this disease? Was there something else going on our vet missed or is this typical? I know it won't bring her back but I can't have closure with these unanswered questions and the shock of losing her without really having to say goodbye. She just ran over to my wife's feet, collapsed and took a few breaths before passing away. It was horrible. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. |

| I don't know the particulars of how that disease works but I will take this opportunity to tell you that I am very very sorry that you lost your deal ittle baby. I know how it hurts and know the agony of questioning and wondering if there were more that should have been done. But likely it was just such a serious degree of illness or a blockage or clot occured, another organ became damaged and shut down or something like that that only a necropsy could hope to try to tell you. I hope and pray that in time your pain and hurt will begin to grow less and healing, good memories of your sweet baby are all that you are left with. You will always miss her but the raw pain does lessen in time. I'm so sorry. R.I.P., Wisdom.

| I am so sorry for your loss. Lymphangectasia is a difficult thing and honestly the prognosis is not all that great. It does not sound like your vet missed anything. I have a pup with it and the protocol for her is similar.

| I am so, so sorry... There really are no words that we can say to help ease your pain. I wish you only the best times of comfort for you and your wife and extend the support that we here at YT can offer.

| Oh, I am so so sorry for your loss. I don't have answers to your questions either and understand your need to look for closure. I do hope you find what you're looking for if it will help you deal with your grief. In the meantime I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that you gave your sweet baby over nine happy years and that she was able to pass at home and in the place where she felt safest, in her mommy's arms. You will see her again. Wisdom will be waiting for you at the bridge. Hugs, Diana and the Scoobster |

| I am so sorry for your loss. The shock of losing your best friend suddenly is overwhelming, but please don't second guess yourself. You said she was happy. You gave her a good quality of life right up until the end. That is what is important. Sometimes thats all you can do. You were blessed with an extra year and a half with her. It sounds like you and your vet did what you could to give her that. |

| Thanks Thanks so much for the kid words of encouragement. Its been a couple days and reality sits in that she is gone. It certainly is good to know she went out on her terms, was at home and was happy right to the end. This is such an ugly disease, it makes us question whether to get another Yorkie. Our breeder never mentioned this 10 years ago and when we called to ask her about it, she never returned our messages. Thanks again. |

| I just wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. It's never easy to lose those we love. I know nothing about the disease but I can tell you that I went through the same types of feelings when we lost our collie a few years ago. Wondering if there were things I could have done differently, if only I had taken her to my regular vet at the first sign of a problem maybe he would have handled it differently that the emergency vets, was it caused by something I did...or didn't do... they are all questions that I never will have the answer to but I did finally come to the realization that I did the best I knew at the time and I am sure you did as well...... |
