| coccidia, gardia, ear mites, bile acid test high, mvd I got a 9 month old yorkie from a lady and now the vet says she has all these problems and the lady will not give the money back that I paid. I don't want the dog to go back there but feel she should give me my money back and/or help with vet bills. I am feeling very overwhelmed. please help if you have any information on these illnesses or what to do. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I'm so sorry, this is just terrible - for both you and the pup ! Does your state have a puppy lemon law? Many states do. Do you have a contract w/ the breeder?

| You need to be very careful(first off), gardia can spread to humans. Do you have a lemon law in Tennessee? Did this woman you got your baby from have any kind of gurantees? I would tell her if she doesn't refund your money, you will be talking to your attorney, sometimes, this will scare them enough they will work with you |

| Hi. I'm sorry this has happened to your and your puppy. Here is a link to the Puppy Lemon Law States. Puppy Lemon Law States. Unfortuanately I did not see Tennessee listed as a state that has this law in place. I did a quick google search and once again nothing pulled up. HOWEVER, I would still contact your Attorney General and also the local Humane Society and see if they can lead you in the right direction. Another alternative would be to file a small claims in court for your vet bills with documentation from your vet. To file would cost you maybe $25.00. MANY breeders do not consider Giardia, Coccidia or ear mites a covered problem. Very sad that breeders think this is common in pups. It's not. Thankfully, what your pup has can be treated successfully. The Giardia is what I'd be most worried about. Do you have other pets? If so you have to keep them separated until the Giardia is clear. ALWAYS pick up your pups poop and dispose of it. If in the crate/house etc. Bleach it after you clean up. Keep his or her behind clean. It can take some time for this to clear up and has to be tested a few times to make sure it is entirely gone. Even if the first test comes back clear take another. If that one is clear it generally means you are good but I would take a third to be sure. My Lilly had this and she is fine. How old is your pup? If young and small you have to be especially careful. | not sure about the lemon law will have to check but don't think so. She is 9 months old. I did call small claims court and it is $152 to file but if it is proven that she is not taking care of the animals she has then she will have to possibly pay that back plus what she charged me for the dog and vet bills to get her better. I did call the humane society and reported her because I actually drove to her house but she didn't know and it is horrible. A horse and goat are in the front yard with only about 20x20 feet to be in, tied up and you can see the ribs on the horse. 4 dogs tied up out front and very nasty. I did call and left her a message because she will not accept my calls and probably won't call me back because she usually doesn't but I told her that she can refund my money, pay for vet bills, or I was taking her to court. Also she said mia was a full blooded yorkie and she is a yorkie/chihuahua mix. I am so disgusted but love mia. She is a great dog but very sick. |

| Oh wow I am so sorry to hear, I had a similar situation, my dog needs 2,500$ LP surgery which the lady said she cannot afford to pay for and did not tell me about the problem til after the fact. I was going to go ahead and do something but I am in a different country and the process was just too much to deal with, luckily my baby didn't have any illnesses. I would definitely go ahead and sue her, at least it will help pay for vet bills. How much did you pay do you mind me asking and do you have any papers for the dog? This lady is just plain wrong and SO horrible! |

| I went to pick her up at a parking lot.The lady wanted to meet me because she said she had too many people at her house at the time. She brought the mom and dad (or dogs she said were) now that I have done my research I guess I've learned a lot. That is why I got curious and searched and got her address and went to see for myself. Very nasty living arrangements for animals and humans. I paid $350 for the dog and have approx. spent that much in vet bills and medicine. |

| Her bile acid test was 11.4 before eating and 31.4 after. Not really bad I don't guess or what 2 vets have said. Just keep an eye on it. The lady signed a paper saying she would refund my money and take her back if there were any life threatening problems. She says none of this is life threatening and that mia didn't have these problems at her house a week ago. She has offered to either give me $100 back or refund and me give dog back but will not pay for vet bills. Not sure what to do. I did turn her in and I don't want a dog that is going to be sick all the time but I am already attached to her and also don't want her back in the environment she was in. I want to keep her and maybe get the $100 because I hope these are just issues that will clear up and she will be fine. Does anyone have an opinion as to what I should do? |

| Personally I would NEVER return her to that woman even if that meant losing all my money. Should she go back to that place she will have no chance. If you have a paper stating that she will return the $$ if a life threatening issue is found then I would have the vet put in writing that her liver enzymes are too high which indicates a possible Liver Shunt. I think her best chance at life is with you. As you said you are attached to her and I'm sure she is to you too. Please, keep her and work to get her better. Elaine |

| I am so sorry! I would just turn her in, try to get the other animals out of there & get her shut down! I would just write off the $350.00 & move on. If you cannot afford to keep her because of her medical bills I would look in to turning her over to a yorkie rescue. So heartbreaking. Keep us updated. Blessings to you.
