| Found Yorkie in Tacoma I don't know if I should list this or not, but my neighbor's girlfriend found a Yorkie, under 1yr. old on South Tacoma Way. She gave it to our neighbor and I don't think they are going to try too hard to find the owners. I tried to convince my neighbor that someone is most probably looking for the pup. My husband posted on Craig'slist, but didn't give out the breed and not a lot of particulars. The pup is recently groomed and looks well fed. My neighbor said she will take the pup down to the Pierce County Humane Society next week to see if it's chipped. Somehow, I don't believe that because if my neighbor was really concerned, she would have done it since she had the pup since this morning. Advice about the best way to go about finding the owners without making enemies? My neighbor is also my manager in our apartment house. I just can't think of what I would be like if my Shankly got away and I couldn't see him. |

| Wow~your neighbor/manager has put you into a very tuff situation. This is not "finders keepers loosers weepers" and every effort needs to be made to find this dogs owner by this woman and now you have been put into a no win situation. If it were me I would not ask her to look for the owner but firmly tell her it must be done immediately and by keeping this dog it is theft. I am sorry but someone that had ethics like her, I would not be able to continue to be friends with them. As for her being your manager, how could your employer trust this woman to be in a position of authority when she had total disregard for the law in stealing someone's beloved and obviously well taken care of dog. It wouldn't even be a questions for me, I would have told her right from the beginning that she needed to do the proper thing. There is no nice way to do this IMO except to tell her to take the proper steps or else you will. End of story.

She needs to be looking for this dog's owner right now. Maybe you could offer to take the dog to the shelter for her to see if it's chipped? At any rate, you can check at the local shelters and watch for ads about a lost dog that fits this dog's description. If you see such an ad, you can tell them where you think the dog is without giving them any information about yourself (if you don't want to). If you see such an ad or hear of someone inquiring at a shelter, you can tell your manager that you think someone is looking for the dog. Surely she wouldn't keep the dog if it were obvious that someone was looking for it. | |

| I failed to mention that I told her and urged her to do the right thing and make every bit of effort to find the owner. She was very irritated by my urgings, in fact. I also took it upon myself to call the Humane Society and explain the circumstance and they assured me that they would give either my husband or I a call if someone calls in a missing Yorkie. They advised me if that should happen and she doesn't bring the dog in for 'inspection' to see if that's the right dog, they will definitely send out an Animal Control Officer and/or police. So, let's hope. She is my apartment manager, not my manager at work. |
