Donating YT 11K Club Member | I think there may be a RAT in my house!! I'm petrified! I could be wrong but i was in the kitchen washing a plate when something ran over my foot. Good thing i was wearing slippers, cause im usually barefoot, but still i felt it and it felt a little heavy!! I jumped and looked down and saw a black face staring at me, usually mice are gray. The body was under the kitchen sink, when i screamed it ran under. Now i wont go anywhere near the sink, the only 2 things im PETRIFIED of are RATS and WATERBUGS!!!! Mice, i am afraid of but not as much. Now..RATS...i live in NYC so there's lots in the street, they will stare me down and even hiss! I hate them! I really hope im wrong and hope it's a mouse instead, but i heard someone on the 5th floor found a rat in their apt. It's very unusual, there's never rats here! There must be a big hole somewhere, anyway im leaving and taking the dogs to my bf's until my mom get's home. I'm so scared, idk what to do. I wont go near the kitchen at all!

| We used to have one as a pet. My daughter named it Rosie Perez. I wouldn't want a "wild" one in my house tho!

| My husband works downtown Chicago and there are rats all over the place there too! YUCK!!!!! Once many years ago (15 plus) I was buying dog food in Walmart and there was a rat on top of the bags of dog food! FREAKED me out! I totally don't blame you for leaving and if I were you I wouldn't be coming back until there was a carcass for me to see with my own 2 eyes!

| That would freak me out too. We've had them in our crawl space and attic but never in the house. If you live in an apartment I would think it would be your landlords responsibility to take care of the problem. One word of advice though is don't use poison, trap them instead. If they are poisoned they can crawl between walls or into very small spaces and die and they they smell terrible. Plus if they are poisoned and another animal eats them they too can be poisoned. Good luck!!!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | It was big but it wasn't big like the ones i've seen in the street that are as big as a cat, bigger than my girls. But it was def. wayy bigger than a mouse, it must have been a baby rat. And we found out the ppl that live above us also caught a rat a couple weeks ago.

| Hahaha. This makes me laugh so hard. I can totally picture you standing on the table squeaking. I'm sorry he was in your house but I'm glad you caught him. When I was younger I helped on a farm, and there were rats int he barns. They weren't bad during the day, but at night when you had to be out there with a pig giving birth you could hear them and see them. Oh My Goodness....Creepy!! They can grow to be big beasts. |
