Hello everyone! Brand new to the site. Decided to check it out after hearing about it from a fellow yorkie owner. Here's the new addition to our family, Pumpkin! She was born on December 11th and we love her to death! We got her from a breeder about an hour and a half away from where we live. My wife has always loved animals, and I used to have some myself, but I wasn't too interested in getting one. She had been bugging me to get one, and she knew I liked yorkies since my friend from high school had one and I liked them. She said she didn't really like them as much, but said she's compromise and get a yorkie if I compromised and allowed her to get a dog There was a posting online for three puppies (they were labeled unnamed 1, unnamed 2 & unnamed 3). 1 was already sold, and 2 had a frown, and my wife wanted to get 3. So we pull up to the breeder's house and she takes us to where the dogs are. Of course, 2 comes running up to my wife and my wife picks her up and she starts licking her all over the face. My wife instantly fell in love and said "I don't care which one we picked before, this is the one!" It's 100% true that they pick you and you don't pick them! So as you can see in the picture, we definitely got 2. But don't let that frown fool you! She's so playful and so happy and I can tell you that neither of us compromised. We love her to death and she's is the best thing that's happened to us. I'm also very protective of her and my wife was shocked as she's never seen me be that protective of anything. But that's what love can do to ya. So needless to say, she is such a joy in our life and we wouldn't trade her for anything in the world.

Thanks everyone. We've had her for a little over a month now and she's grown, but thankfully not too much! Her old collar won't fit anymore and we decided to shave her to keep her hair from getting matted. When I get home I'll upload some more pics.

Thanks a lot everyone! This really is a wonderful and friendly place! I've spent a lot of time looking at the pictures from the other threads and I had to take an early lunch to go see Pumpkin! There's just something about those yorkies...I miss her already and I just got back from lunch! TootiesMom, Being in Louisiana, you can imagine the other reason we are shaving her. It's starting to get to summer but thankfully we've had mild temperatures lately. I often wonder how hot they feel compared to us because even in these temperatures, every time I take her outside during lunch I come in sweating horribly. If I had all that fur I'd get heat exhaustion stepping out the door!
