Male hormones! When they start to lift that leg, they think they own the world! Time to get him fixed! Also, Higgins will be SOOOOO GOOOOD for awhile, and then revert to peeing and pooping wherever he pleases. I don't know what it is....it's Yorkies!

yeah, you think you have them trained, or maybe we are the one's trained, then our baby goes back to "not being trained".. I know, it is soooo frustrating!! I have a female, but maybe it does have to do with "time for neutering"?? Then again, I have a spayed 4 year old female Schnauzer who when outside "marks her terriority" on EVERYTHING!!. Even when we camp she will lift her leg like a male dog on all the trees. I think she is gender challenged I am not sure?? I sure wish I could give some great advise but I am in the same boat. Schatzie is oh about 6 months and does great then I will find a spot. Let's just say it's time to steam clean my carpets. I have never had such a difficulty housebreaking a dog before my Schatzie. So, I do think it's a Yorkie trait Im guessing. Yesterday while being logged onto this site there were numerous ads above. Anyway, this one caught my eye. It was for Yorkie training. Well, it's these audio tapes. $40.00 bucks or so and they guarantee a great, perfect dog. So, I bought. I have only listened today to tape one. So far, Schatzie did so awesome and I was extreamly pleased. Tomorrow I will continue onto tape 2. It is the clicker method but it really is working. There are 16 lessons. Once you buy they immediatley download the tapes onto your computer. So, no waiting in the mail, or UPS for anything. I do think it's worth the money so far and I have only listened to such a short amount. I will let you know how it all goes when all the tapes are listened to. But about the housebreaking. That is almost the last tape, LOL So, maybe tomorrow I will cheat and listen to that first, ha ha and get back with you. Keep your chin up, sounds like all our Yorkies have their mistakes now and then!!

I read somewhere in a housetraining book that if your dog ever reverts back to going in the house, then they were never fully trained in the first place - you may have thought that he/she was all set, but in reality they really weren't. I am going through the same thing with my pups, so we are going back to square one and taking the time to do it allllllll over again and making sure they master each step along the way before we move on. Giving them too much to master at once is a sure-fire way to have problems, as demonstrated by my little wonders Someday they'll all get it!

Rocky is almost there!! ino maybee he was never truly trained. Any housebreaking tips?? ( i feel like I have a pup all over again) -donna |

Housetraining I have learned with Rudy it is day by day. I think he has it and them he comes in and poops infront of me. I think he get distracted when he goes outside with the other dogs. He will be 11 months soon. Maddie will be two in Feb and she was alot easier to train. I never used pee pads for her and started using them with Rudy. Rudy drags them all over the house and never usees them. Maddie will use them when I am gone. They do change, Maddie has turned out to be a little angel, but I had my doubts. It's like all of a sudden they get it..............Cindy

I am really interested in how you like the clicker training! I looked into it a few months back, but decided I didn't like it. However, that program to download wasn't available at the time and it looks much better. If you are already seeing results, WOW! Keep us posted, okay? Thanks!

When do little boys start lifting their leg? I am going to neuter Boomer, seeing as he is not a breeding quality dog at all, and I want to make sure it will be before he starts getting his hormones all out of whack. I'm still not sure if I want to spay Karma though. I reeeeeally want puppies someday, but I know how much work it entails and I know it is MUCH healthier for her to be spayed. Need to give it some more thought.

Higgins started lifting his leg early! About 4 1/2 to 5 months. So we had him neutered pretty quickly. Now he lifts about half the time and squats the rest of the time. 5-6 months is pretty average for them to start lifting.

I sure would like also to find out how the tape works. When charlie was young he pee also until I got him fixed. He goes outside and on puppy pads. He does really good and does not pee anywhere in my house anymore since I got him fixed.

Higgins Mom and Fasteddie - I listened to tape 2 this am to see if it work to skip through other courses but nope. Each segmant takes place on the previous one/continues. For instance, tape one was "touch"...they learn to touch their nose on your hand, you move it further and further away. This in time will give them direction as to walking for instance if you want them on the other side of you or to maybe retrieve something on the ground. Amazingly she "remembered" the touch command today in tape two which was "attention". It teaches them to have eye contact with you on command by calling their name. Which intime gives them direction outside being distracted and you need to have them come to you right away for any reason. She mastered that. YOU don't have to use the clicker, but it helps. At the same time you use the clicker you give a bridge word which ours is "good" all in continous of rec'vng a treat. She did great today. It makes this training fun for Schatzie and it really is working. I am so impressed. I am unable to find the website now, darn it! When I do I will pass it on for you all to choose if this is a training course you might be interested in. Today's training I had to wait about 5 min's inbetween each command. Schatzie needed to get distracted first. Anyway, she was having so much fun she just sat and stared at me with the look of "what can I do next for you so I can have that treat". The tapes only take about 5-9 min's to listen to and the training is 10-15 min's per day. I LOVE IT!! It's not actually tapes, they are downloads they send immediatly to your computer when you pay. I then download them into my computer to save. Anyways, sorry this is so long but i just wanted to let you know how great this training is going. I have never been so impressed before. After Schatzie i will begin using it more on Annabelle. Unfortunatley it will be awhile before I get to the housebreaking lesson. You'd think that would have been one of the first lessons, LOL
