| A folded towel, or a phone book for him would work. |

| Your male is the right size for breeding but your female is over the standard and shouldnt be bred

If you are determined to breed her, that is up to you, but I felt I should point out there are certain standards in any purebred breed to consider before using a stud or dam for breeding. In my opinion, I don't consider breeding a female under 5 lbs as that is too small too risky for whelping complications. Too big a Yorkie is a different reason not use them that you will end up producing very large Yorkies. | |

| From someone who has an over sized yorkie. I love him but i wish he was in the standard. I am constantlly being told he is too big for a yorkie and he is a silky. He is 10 lbs. I think most people want standard yorkies

| imo im glad your breeding a larger or should i say normal healthier sized yorkie, yorkies where bigger when first bred and were also a lot healthier. so what about the so called breed standard, if you have homes for them and the new owners dont care about the size of the pup and will love it anyway what does it matter if they are not to be shown in the ring. i love mine for who they are not for what they look like, i wonder how us owners would feel if are dogs could speak and say oh hang on a min i dont want you as my mum cos your to fat or you have a big nose?

| Just because a yorkie is bigger doesnt mean they are healthier. I have had more health problems with my oversized yorkie than the standard yorkie

| if you dont care about standard, then think about what happens when your trying to sell the pups. when buyers take one look at the mom, they are going to run for the hills. it usually doesnt "balance out" when it comes to weight, and its very likely that the pups end up HUGE. and people that want puppies for companion or not show purposes, are usually looking for tiny lil purse dogs. |

| Just my opinion, but I think it all comes down to your reasons for breeding. Is this a one time thing and are you breeding to keep the puppies or giving them to family members and friends, or are you starting your own breeding program? If you are starting your own program maybe starting with a 10 pound female isn't the best, even though personally I love teapots! I'm not a breeder but if the puppies are going to be strictly for pets, then what difference does it make?
