| I had 3 cats for years. I had to put my last one down a year ago in June. They all lived a good life and I dearly miss them. A year later I told hubby I wanted a little dog. I was never really a dog lover but now that I have Tish I do not know what I would do without her. I got her at 9 weeks old and now she is 61/2 months. I cannot believe how smart she is. She is so smart that she would be able to learn a new trick everyday. So far she has learned how to spin, roll, sit, wave, weave thru my legs, when I tell her to sleep she lies on her side, when I say bark she barks, when I say baby she groans,She places fetch with all her toys,I say paws and she will give me her paw, I say roll it and she rolls a large cardboard tube, she puts her toys in her basket when I ask her to,She goes on her own chair when I tell her in chair. When we play or when she gets all excited I will say all done at the end and she knows it is time to stop whatever we are doing. She is learning to crawl now but I am a bit worried because she was born with luxating patellas. I am not sure if that is good for her knees! I am very proud of her and I am a proud mommy also. |

| Yes she is very clever. Tooooo clever sometimes. This may sound wierd but I work in a daycare and with special needs children. I teach her the same way I would teach the children. I do not give up to easy Today I thought it was so funny. I watched her go pee in her play pen on the paper then she grabbed the paper and turned it over then walked away. It was like she was covering it up. I read somewhere that they do not like to walk in there pee. Maybe that is why they do not pee and poo in the same place. What do you think? |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk, yizzl and Tish!! yizzl ... you have one smart Yorkie! You will find that they are the sweetest babies in the world! I have had various breeds but Toto is my first Yorkie and I am absolutely amazed at her intelligence and animation! Tish's other ear may not be ready to stand up. I have heard lots of different ages that they will pop up. Toto was 16 weeks when we bought her and our breeder told us that the ears had just popped up! I don't know if crawling will be bad for Tish's little knees ... I would ask the vet for an opinion or be very careful! One of the first things we taught Toto when she began to want to jump up [she wanted on the sofa at my Mom's ... ran across the room and jumped ... landed flat against the front of the sofa and fell back on the floor! ] We knew if she wanted up on the sofa, bed, etc. that she would find a way to get up ... we decided to teach her to be safe and protect her little knees. We simply keep sofa pillows [the flat kind] stacked in front of the sofa and a wicker stool at the foot of the bed and she hops up and down! Another thing we have noticed ... the only place she tries to jump up are the places where there is assistance for her! If she wants in a lap or some other place high up she simply sits in front of it and says in her little baby voice "Up"!! She does "talk" to us in a tiny little baby voice!! We are so afraid that she will injure her little knees that we are almost paranoid about them!! Heck, we ARE paranoid about everything concerning her! She is very spoiled! Hope you and Tish enjoy it here! How about pictures??

| Tish is about 5lbs. now. So she is not as little as most yorkies are I guess. I would love to send some pics. but I have no idea on how to change the size. I do not have paint shop so I am trying to figure out what I can do. I have piles of pics. in here. Tish was fine with her legs until about a week ago. My hubby picked her off the chair and made her land on all 4 legs about a foot from the floor. She has been having problems since then. I am still mad at him for it, and I know he feels guilty right now also. |

| yizzl ... I know your husband must feel really bad! The little Yorkie knee can pop out of the little "trench" that it sits in. When they bend their little leg the knee just kinda rides back and forth in the little "trench". Maybe Tish's just popped out ... I believe the vet can pop it back in place! Poor baby! I would definitely have it checked! Good luck!

| That is what I think happened at the time. The problem she has now is that I believe it goes in and out on its own. I would take her for a walk and sometimes she will have one back leg lifted, but then within seconds she has it down again. I think the drop made it worse for her. I have to bring her in to get spayed so I will get the vet to check it out. Can anyone tell me what to expect after she gets spayed? How can I make things easy for her when she comes home? |

| Well I'm no help on the knee problem but I had Gypsy Rose spayed in July and I was frantic on the day but although she was ill that evening and next day , in the afternoon of the next day she recovered and started demanding a walk etc and was just fine. When I saw her not well (only due to anaesthetic) I felt guilty but now I feel so glad i had it done and the scar can hardly be seen. It helps prevent cancers etc in later life and you really would be doing the right thing. If anything else needs doing this is the time to ask the vet to do it (like baby teeth retained etc) and possibly the knee problem? I bought babygros (all in ones ) for Gypsy Rose and altered them in advance so she couldn't get at her stitiches - hope some of this helps?! I have to go through all this again with baby Gizzie Chavi but not just yet LOL. Ana xx |

| Hi Tish - just seen your question about babygros - not sure what you call them over there, I thought you called them all in ones? Not sure how to dscribe them really!! Babies wear them and as the name suggests they are all in one and fasten underneath (I cut this part so that the finished product was like a vest really(shorter underneath than the back). It really did stop Gypsy Rose from getting at her stitches. I dislike the Elizabethan collars as they walk into furniture and doors in them as well as being uncomfortable. Gypsy got quite used to her clothes and looked cute too! She even helped by putting her legs into the sleeves when I dressed her lol. Ana xx |
