| Bad experience w/ Pet Smart... Has anyone else had a bad experience???? Took lil Kinzi in today for her next series of puppy shots... dropped off a "sample" and filled out the paperwork... waited 45 minutes & finally got put in a room. Nurse comes in & checks vitals... vet comes in & I tell him I'm a little concerced, Kinzi is a lil congested & should we wait on her next vaccine. He says she is due for several & thats my call. Well I will never do more than one at a time anyways & decided to wait & give her a lil Benadryl (vets suggestion) Go to check out & my bill is $90 I acted kinda surprised & asked for an itemized bill, please... she looks at me like I'm nuts!! I was charged for deworming meds: (oops, test was negative & no meds given) charged for a complete physical exam: (ooooook, if thats a physical) charged for a medical procedure, fecal collection: (collecting the sample I brought in?) lol charged for a complete lab work package: (fecal test I guess... $30) eeek charged for oral antibiotics: (oops again, I stated I had children's Benedryl) and the best charge of all... $5 to flush her lil "sample down the potty!!!! (medical waste disposal fee) When I questioned why all the charges, her response was... we bill as a package. I didn't jump to enroll in the wellness package as I wanted to meet the vet and 1st determine if he was a caring doctor that I felt comfy with. I wouldn't take my baby to just any ole Dr. & I won't my puppy either. Sooooooooo, little Kinzi won't soon be getting anymore package anything at the Pet Smart!!!!

| OMG that is ridiculous!!!! I am sorry you had a bad experience! I never go to Pet Smart. I only shop at Pets Supplies Plus and our local Fish Shoppe.

| Maybe you should try a private Vet. I would think one that is in private practice would be more considerate and maybe even more thorough than the corporate hired vets @ petsmart. IMO. I am sure that there have been people on here with good experiences, but I personally had a bad one too. I took a cat to petsmart years ago, and it WAS ridiculous. I live in a small town now and use a wonderful local vet who owns his own practice. He is unbelievably inexpensive and does a fabulous job. He NEVER charges me for those "little things" i.e. anal gland emptying, sample that I brought in, etc. You can tell he really cares about what he does and about his clients. Just a suggestion........if petsmart vets are anything like human doctors and dentists that work for corporations - then stay away from them! |

| yes i had bad experiences w/ banfield too! they tell you once price over the phone then it is a totally different price when you are done. also i took remmie in when i got him w/ a 48 hour health garuntee (spelling?) anyway the vet says he looks good, 2 days later i bring him in for vaccines, and the doctor tells me that remmie has 2 hernia that he noticed the other day but wasnt sure so didnt want to say anything, and that he needas to get it fixed the cost is 1000.00!!! well i called around and it is more like 250.00 at the most to get fixed. but come to find out remmie is fine!! no hernias! so i know where you are coming from and yes wow 5.00 disposal fees are crazy!! but i think that all vets charge you that now, the last one i visited charged 1.50 disposal fee |

| I am so happy I'm not the only one... thanks for your replies I did dispute the charges & finally they deleted "some" charges. The only really awesome thing about the visit to Pet Smart is... Kinzi got some new toys & right now she is going crazy running from one to the other!!!! The Petstages toys are sooooooooooo perfect for her feistiness!!!!

| I see you are in Conroe...I am near the Crosby area (if you know where that is )....probably too far for you to drive to my vet! Ha ha! Well, good luck finding a reputable veterinarian. You know, I have learned that with some things you get what you pay for, but sometimes expensive doesn't always mean better. Maybe you could do an internet search for vet reviews in your surrounding area??? Maybe there are some YTers in Conroe that could help you out. Keep us posted! |

| I guess I am lucky. Gypsy goes to the local Banfield. Great vets. They are great with her and me. The 2 vets there are wonderful and take time to talk with me and they really listen. The office people love Gypsy and take good care of her (spoiling is the right word). Several times they have not charged me for something cause they know money is so tight and I have to bring her so much for dips (mange mites) and she had kennel cough right after I got her. I have always been given an itemized statement with out question.

Not that it cost me much but I had to drive almost 2 hours to get there and wait an additional 3 HOURS for what looked like a bath??? NO CUTE BOWS OR ANYTHING LOL...my groomer now is private, cheap and I get cute widdle bows!! I love shopping at Petsmart but wont be using their services anytime soon.. Dawn |

| I was taking Pete to Banfield for the first bit (when I didnt know any better) and I didnt like their services and I hated the fact every time we went in we saw a different vet (some better than others). Now I take him to a private vet, he see's the same doc each time (who remembers him) whos great, and the price is usually cheaper or the same! |
