| Question about YT!! Hi everyone, I am pretty new here and I read more then post, but I am a new Yorkie owner and have lots of questions. Most of the times I find answers but once in a while I don't find what I am looking for. A few days ago I posted a new thread on my Tinkerbells newest behavior when I come home from work. I was asking because I recently started working and even though I am gone for only 3 hours at a time twice a day she seams mad at me. I go to work at 9 and come to check on her at 12:00 and leave at 12:30 and come home at 3:00 and everytime I come home she is shaking and crying! At the end of my post I decided to ask about her weight, I got Tinkerbell in South Korea at 6 weeks and she weighted 9 oz, now she is 11 weeks and 20 oz. Most people that answered didn't even mentioned about my main question, and I felt they were offended by her weight . I never said she is sick or anything like that, she is upto date on all her shots, I make sure she eats when i leave and when i come home, I still give her nutrical 2 times a day just to prevent any low sugar problems. One nice person suggested that i leave a radio or tv, and I think that is a great idea and that is what I really wanted in the first place. Maybe I misinterperted, but is weight a big issue here on YT? Is it a bad subject?? I hope I don't cause any problems but I just had to ask . By the way I really enjoy YT, and would like to feel free to ask any questions regarding my baby. I am here to learn, not get scoulded over her weight . |

| Hi there. I'm sorry that you received negative responses when you posted your question. While I haven't seen that post, the answer you said you received suggesting that you leave a tv or radio on is a good one. I have done this many times myself and always let them watch Animal Planet. Regarding the negative feedback you received, please don't take it personally. YT is a GREAT place full of wonderful people and wonderful information.......it is also full of people who are very passionate about these little dogs. Unfortunately, sometimes people do not use this passion in a positive way and this results in hurt feelings. I'm sure that this was not the intention of those who posted, but of course that does not change that it happened. While it is very easy to take things that are said personally, the best thing to do is try to take in the good and ignore the bad. I know.....easier said than done, but definitely worth a shot!

| Sorry you feel you were given a hard time about her weight. I'm sure she is a healthy little cutey I think maybe you just misinterpreted the responses a little. I'm sure that the other members were just trying to be helpful. If they seemed a bit abrupt is was most likely out of concern for your little one They're a good bunch, and are really helpful Feel free to ask away, and if they can help you, they will. You'll see Welcome to YT again, and please don't think we think badly of you OK! I'm sure you love your baby and have her best interests at heart

| I agree with what everyone else said. Yes, for some weight is a big issue (i.e. calling Yorkies teacups/tinies/ect)...and so is when you bring your baby home. I got Baby at 8 weeks, and it's recommended they come home at 12 weeks. You got yours at 6 weeks? Wow, SO glad she hasn't had any episodes. People can get opinionated on YT, BUT...I'm SOOOOO glad that didn't scare you away!!! Don't get insulted, say what you have to say and don't pay attention to negativity. If some posts help you GREAT, if not...that's fine too. For example, I don't know if this post will help you with your question because I don't remember what your question was on this post!!! DUH!! I was so worried about you being upset with your responses last time, I wanted to make you feel welcome! So now I have to submit this, and go back to re-read!

| Okay...now that I re-read... I'm glad you got the advice of the radio/tv. I do the same thing for Baby. Also, when she was little I had her in an Xpen with food, water, toys, and her bed on one side, and her pee pad on the other. That way she had everything she needed, and wasn't cramped in a little crate. Do you have her in a crate? I leave Baby home for a lot longer than 3 hours, so your furbaby is LUCKY!! Baby is home from 7:45-3:30. Baby still cries when I leave, but she FREAKS out with happiness when I come home. She doesn't get mad. Maybe you should get another furbaby to keep her happy!?

| I am so very sorry you feel like you are not being answered appropriately. The very last thing anyone here would want is for a new member to feel like they are not being given answers to questions. I speak for myself, but somehow I don't think I am alone.....sometimes long posts with multiple questions are hard to answer. I have a tendency to read posts quickly and then respond to what I feel like the "meat" of the thread is. Sometimes, I entirely miss the point. There are is so much going on here and so little time. I am certainly not offended by weight --my Peppy, at 1 1/2 years weighs in at 3.25 to 3.5 lbs. I do not in anyway consider his a weight a factor. He is a smallish sized Yorkie with a HUGE heart. I do tend to watch his weight very closely and take extra precautions because he is small, but other than that, he is a perfectly healthy, normal Yorkie. Sending hugs |

| Thank you everyone, I do feel better now and maybe you all are right about ignoring some people, and taking advantage of the good info that is on here. Someone suggested i get another furbaby, I do have a 4 month old maltese. Tinkerbell is left out while the maltese is in his xpen, Tinkerbell has the kitchen and the living room(properly puppy proofed), It is really small place we have here in Korea. I make sure the bedroom doors are always closed and she always have toys, food, water and her pee pads. She is happy all the time except when i return from work. Someone mentioned about their puppy being overjoyed with happiness when she returnes from work. Maybe Tinkerbell is soooo happy to see me she cries to show me.....lol. Thank you all for your responses and I will keep asking questions as some of you are very nice and helpful . As far as her weight i was just wondering if it is normal weight, I didn't mean to ask if she was a tiny or teacup......she doesn't look like a cup at all of any kind......lol. |

| I'm sorry, Micaela if you felt some negativity from some over the size of your baby and the age at which you brought her home. Most people do not find YT until after they purchase a Yorkie and are looking for more information about them They are not aware of how many problems the small Yorkies can have. They also do not know you shouldn't bring a baby home at 6 or 8 weeks. Most people are not aware of bad breeders and what to look for in the person you buy your Yorkie from. Unfortunately we learn all these things after the fact. You know the old saying about hindsight. We need to be careful to attack the breeders who do these things not the unsuspecting person who buys a puppy and don't know any better. Most people just see the little tiny puppies and think of how cute they are and how easy it would be to take them places not knowing about the problems they can have. They did not breed them. It's good they come to YT and want the best care for that baby. We shouldn't attack them, just be here when they need us to help them learn and give them the support they need. I have learned so much from YT. I believe my furbaby is fortunate because I can come to YT to ask questions and get information or just to brag and talk about her. No one else but a Yorkie lover understands how these little furballs can completely capture your heart. |

| Micaela, I am one of the people who only addressed your first question. Go back and reread your post: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33300 You titled it "She Gets The Shakes. I Think She's Mad at Me". You spent at least three quarters of your post discussing that issue and then tacked the weight question at the end. I answered what I thought concerned you most. Others addressed your concerns that your pup seems underweight. You were NOT given a hard time about her weight. Go back and reread that thread. I see nothing in it that could offend you. Nor do I see anything to lead you to the conclusion that "maybe you all are right about ignoring some people". Maybe you're just wanting to start a debate over the size of Yorkies. I don't know. I'm sorry. But now, I'm offended.

| When I get home, Tinkerbell is whining, talking, barking and stamping her feet and shaking from excitement. She is very verbal! And when I pick her up she acts like she hasn't seen me in weeks and does little baby whines and takes forever to recover. And I hardly leave her for more than 2 hours on a daily basis. She also has other dogs to keep her company while I'm gone. But I think more than any other dog, yorkies are soo needy for attention and they MISS us sooo much when they are without their person. My maltese is very excited when I get home too but it's just not the same as Tinkerbell. We have so many members on this board with a wide range of personalities, you certainly won't like some of the responses you get sometimes. But there are so many wonderful people here with lots of good info and support. Please don't be scared off, this board is a lot of fun. |
