| Yorkie Puppy We are the PROUD owners of a tiny little sweetie we've named "Chewie" She is very calm, VERY sweet, and not playful. I was very concerned, at first, at just how calm and quiet she is,but was assured that it can be normal. She was bought yesterday, and I know she's adjusting- particularly since we took her from the city over, and she had a shot. She wants to stay in her corner as of now. She's not lethargic, she's not tired she just stays in that area. I finally took the second bed and she THEN got up and drank- until now I've had to feed her by hand. She relieved me when she showed a stubborn streak with walking. she flat out REFUSED to walk. I'm wondering if I should take the other bed and put it in the crate, or just give her a bit more time to adjust? At the place we took her from we DID observe her walking around, interacting with the other dogs, and also showing that she was happy to see her family members. We take her to the vet today, and she has been chipped, and has all but one of her shots. She has an obedience trainer she sees next week. |

| Welcome to your Yorkie Talk and congratulations on your new little girl, Chewie! You are correct that puppies, even adult dogs, can take some time to adjust to a new home. Being confident and happy around her will be reassuring and help her to settle in and learn the routine. I had to hand feed Max his first year. Yorkie can be funny that way. A bed in the crate might be helpful. Max liked his beds in his open crate, his xpen, and under the kitchen table. Anything that feels like a cozy den is reassuring to a little pup. Enjoy!

Scottie was very shy and timid when he first came home with us and he definitely didn't wanna play with any toys that I gotten him beforehand. He also didn't eat the kibble that our breeder gave us during the first few days because he was so nervous. I eventually was able to get him to eat by hand-feeding as well; it became useful when I was training him commands by using his food (instead of treats, which upset his tummy). Finally weaned him off that habit after he was a year old I also agree to put the bed into the crate. Maybe cover the sides of the crate with a blanket so she feels safe and cozy in her den. She'll take some time to loosen up, but I'm sure her bursts of yorkie energy will be coming up as soon as she's comfy with you!

| My Zeusy is still very reserved. He rarely acted like the "typical" puppy when he was one. He has only ever chewed one thing in his life, and I think that was in his way (my son's earbuds which were knocked off the table into the floor near Zeusy's pillow). He is a very sweet, loving, docile dog, and I love that! When I was reading on hypersensitivity in children years ago, it gives an example in the book about dogs. There are hypersensitive dogs and other animals, just like people. Congratulations on your new baby! They are wonderful and will steal your heart and keep in their fur pocket. |

| Thank you so much for the helpful tips!!! I was super worried about her little eyes with all that gunk and her very stiff fur poking her, so I took her today to the vet instead of next week as planned. Poor darling has a bacterial infection and once they clipped that hair off she got a bit more adventurous- but still quite calm. The staff absolutely loved her, and since I'm biased, lol, I'm not surprised. She's on eyedrops for a week. I'll stop getting nervous by how calm she is. It's always reassuring to hear from the "experts!" |

LOL! She just got finished chewing on my daughter's hair, then trapped my hand with her paws and gently nibbled on my fingers. She's getting more and more comfy. Now just to get her to poopie- which is probably due to her eating less yesterday (more today) and I'll be completely happy! | |

MY goodness she's a hoot and we are in LOVE. |
