She was bought yesterday, and I know she's adjusting- particularly since we took her from the city over, and she had a shot. She wants to stay in her corner as of now. She's not lethargic, she's not tired she just stays in that area. I finally took the second bed and she THEN got up and drank- until now I've had to feed her by hand. She relieved me when she showed a stubborn streak with walking. she flat out REFUSED to walk.
I'm wondering if I should take the other bed and put it in the crate, or just give her a bit more time to adjust? At the place we took her from we DID observe her walking around, interacting with the other dogs, and also showing that she was happy to see her family members.
We take her to the vet today, and she has been chipped, and has all but one of her shots. She has an obedience trainer she sees next week. |
awww congrats on getting Chewie!! Such an exciting time! I can barely remember that first week or two. Cherish the moment hehe...and take lots of pictures!! They grow up so fast
Scottie was
very shy and timid when he first came home with us and he definitely didn't wanna play with any toys that I gotten him beforehand. He also didn't eat the kibble that our breeder gave us during the first few days because he was so nervous. I eventually was able to get him to eat by hand-feeding as well; it became useful when I was training him commands by using his food (instead of treats, which upset his tummy). Finally weaned him off that habit after he was a year old
I also agree to put the bed into the crate. Maybe cover the sides of the crate with a blanket so she feels safe and cozy in her den. She'll take some time to loosen up, but I'm sure her bursts of yorkie energy will be coming up as soon as she's comfy with you!
