| I am desperate for some good advice - fast! Ok, here is the story. As some of you know, I purchased a puppy from a breeder, paid for him in full, named him Cosmo, and then a week before I was supposed to bring him home, the breeder called to say she had taken him in for his first shots and tests, and that he had elevated kidney levels. She was crying when she told me, as she knew that my Chanel had just died from kidney failure. So I started looking for another dog, and this kind breeder referred me to a breeder friend of hers in Seattle. I ended up agreeing to by a brother and sister from her and I am supposed to be picking them up this Saturday. Now, the dilemma is this, I got a call from the breeder in Seattle saying that Cosmo's kidney levels were tested again today and are now perfect and that I might want to purchase Cosmo from the first breeder and the girl from the second breeder. I know that I will be scared to death that he will develop kidney issues later and I don't want to be worried about that for the rest of his life. How common is it for puppies at 2 ½ months to have elevated kidney levels and then to have perfect levels two weeks later? I really need to know the answer to this! I feel terrible that the first breeder is losing out on selling two puppies to me, as I had put a $300. deposit on a girl to be born later. When I mentioned this to the second breeder, she said the first one would understand, so I agreed to purchase both of them. But now she thinks I should buy Cosmo from the first breeder and buy the girl from her on Saturday. Tat would also mean that I would have to wait until December to drive down to Arizona, because I would have to wait 30 days after the rabies shot. I do not have snow tires on my car, as I never need them, and I would be afraid of driving through BC and Idaho in December without snow tires. Do I owe it to the first breeder to buy Cosmo from her? I want to do the right thing. But if he ends up having kidney issues alter in life, I am going to be extremely upset because I felt pressured to buy him. |

| Btw, when the first breeder called me to tell me about Cosmo's elevated kidney levels, she told me that I cannot buy him because of that and refunded the money to me. (I told her to keep the $300. deposit for the future girl.) The breeder is a very caring and honest breeder and I really like her. We just hit it off together and I thought we would become great friends. |

| I don't know anything about the technical/health stuff, but you don't owe anyone anything (you sound wonderfully compassionate and kind). I truly believe you should follow your instincts--that gut-level feeling--and you'll have made the right choice decision. To me, I think you know the little girl is right. Follow your heart and don't worry about anyone else--you're making a lifelong commitment to yourself and your new baby and the two of you are what matters! It'll be alright and you should be feeling excited, not upset. I don't even know you, but I believe in you! Please forgive me if I didn't follow the situation exactly, but I still feel strongly that you know what you want and that is the right decision--trust yourself. |

| For me since you were refunded by the first breeder you technically are out of that contract because she contacted you and decided not to sell. She sounds very honorable and I can understand you liking her. That being said I would adopt the brother and sister together as they have a family bond since you are adopting 2. Also it sounds like waiting until December and the driving weather will be difficult. Also the training for the brother and sister would be starting at the same time, the shots etc. Good Luck with the decision.

| I would get the brother & sister, in your shoes I to would worry what if down the road Cosmo gets kidney issue. You are not obligated to buy Cosmo. You are like a ping pong ball with these pups and the breeders, sorry Sharon but as nice as Cosmo's breeder is, I think it's kinda unfair on her part to come now and say Cosmo is ok after you have decided on this brother & sister. Follow your gut instincts and your heart. Good luck with making the right decision. If you go for the brother and sister I would ask Cosmo's breeder to return the $300. because you purchased your boy and girl, after all the puppies are not even born yet so that breeder has not lost $ for holding a pup for you.

| If the breeder will let you take the dog to the vet of your choice to have all of the blood and liver bile acid tests done to establish if the dog is healthy then you should be able to make the decision based on how much you can expect to pay to get it right. I know this from experience. But that being said, paying to save this little girls life was one of the best decisions that we have ever made.

| If it were me, I wouldn't buy any dog from the first breeder. |

Yorkie Yakker | I would ask your Vet what the possibilities of Cosmo having kidney problems in the future, before I even thought of taking him. The fact you told her to keep the $300 for a future puppy, almost sounds like a verbal contract, but I would explain to the first breeder that although you would love to take a dog from her, you had made a commitment to the new breeder for 2 puppies and try to get your $300 back |

| I agree with Heart, graciously back out and move on. Because yorkies are prone to health issues, it was very important to me to find a reputable breeder. |
