| new puppy What are the basic supplies I need? I will check with the breeder for the food. Should I take a baby blanket for her to put in the present container so it smells like the mom? I am off this week so I am going to the pet store to buy basics. I can't make a vet appointment until I know when the puppy will arrive. It is 4 weeks old and just being gently weaned by the mother. |

| Make sure you get a crate if you choose to crate train. Maybe a bed so he can have his own comfy spot. Nutrical to help prevent low blood sugar. Treats to help with training. Pee pee pads if you are gonna train him that way. And lots of love!

At what age does your breeder let her puppies go? The longer she keeps them the better for the pup and you. Even if mom has weaned the puppies she will help train them for their social skills (bathroom). The ideal age is 12 weeks but many members have gotten them younger but 6 weeks is just to young.

| Hi, welcome to the best place you could have found to take good care of your new baby! Spend some time reading old threads, you will find answers to ALL of your questions! Don't take your baby home too early, it's really important for her to be with her mom at least for 8 weeks, closer to 10 or 12 is even better. Good luck!

| Bringing home Maggie We are brining home our second Yorkie (the first died at the hands of our past vet) but the new is hard exspecially when you are not sure of the breed. Just know that Yorkies are not puppies, they are babies.....

Is there any way that the breeder will keep your pup longer? I know you are anxious to get that little bundle of love, but it will be well worth it to wait! | |

| new puppy Thanks for the input. I will contact the breeder and make sure that she is not hurrying on my account. Especially with school, I need as much time as I can get. In the meantime I am reading and searching stores for ideas and more books. Thanks to all that responded. It is nice to know that I am not alone. |

| Welcome to YT! You will always find a answer to your questions about yorkies here. I took a sleep shirt over to my new puppy before I bought her home. That way she had a familar scent of me and her new home. I also think nutrical is very important to have on hand. I have to say I agree with Branni - Yorkies are not puppies, they are babies! Let us know how it goes - Kim

| I'm going along with everyone else on this one. Especially if you are in school and your baby is going to be alone alot. Please leave her with her mom longer. There are really good books available to read. You can e-mail me for names or just about any one else here. Glad you joined YT. Welcome.
