| What should I do about this... Kelsey has a habit of pooping in the house. I can stay outside for an hour sometimes and walk around in every spot imaginable, yet her favorite place to do her business is in the house. Once I find it, i'll yell her name and she'll look at me like "uh oh"! I tell her "Bad girl, potty outside!" and i put the poop up to her face and she'll squirm around and then I'll put her in her "time out" corner. She knows it's bad...I just dont know how to make her to stop?

| When you find out - let me know! Tucker is almost 1 and still doesn't know the right place to poop!

My only problem with that is that I have 2 dogs. Whenever I yell at Tucker, Biddy thinks she's in trouble! I feel so bad!

Start over. Confine her to an area where you can monitor her every move. Feed her on a regular schedule and make sure you do 'outs' just as regularly. Praise when she goes out and if you miss an accident in, just clean it up without a word. If you see her start to squat in the house grab her quick with an 'Out, out out' and take her out FAST and praise her as she finishes up. e-mail me for housetraining info if you'd like sylvanyorkies@yahoo.com

| I know what you are going through. My little one and I still don't see eye to eye on the potty issue. Nikko pretty much goes where ever he wants to in the house. I am also looking for advise on this subject. However, one thing that a lot of people seem to agree on is that it is pointless to reprimand them after the deed is done. You have to catch Kelsey in the act to tell her "No potty in the house" and show her where you want her to go. Yelling at her after the fact and showing her the poop makes her think the act of pooping is wrong and it may confuse her. She may start pooping and hiding it which is even worse. Hopefully someone on here can tell you the best way to handle this. Good luck!!

Excellent advise! I'm afraid that you've taught her to never poop in your presence by reprimanding her when you've caught her going in the house. Sylvan is right. Start over. Do not reprimand when she potties wrong. Instead praise lavishly and treat heavily when you catch her doing it right!

| How old is she? I agree with Sylvan. Big praise when you catch her doing the right thing, no comment when she makes a mistake. Treats for proper potty help too. |

Schatzie has proven to me that I'am not worthy of giving out "potty advise" LOL. I am seriously thinking about getting her a diaper. She's over a year old and every once in awhile STILL decides to take it upon herself to wash the carpet w/ her pee. UGH!

| I quietly clean up the mess if I don't catch him in the act. I do praise when he does it "right" but he also will stay outside for long periods of time (of course, with me by his side) and just as soon as the last foot hits the inside of the house then he seems to need to go then. Go figure!!!! The last thing I want him to do is to hide the poop. YUCK!!!!!!! My Aussie.....oh boy! I could be in the room in the back of the house and it would sound like a faucet had been turned on. So, I could normally at least catch him halfway through the act. It took a while to get him potty trained. My crazy husband told me the other day that my Yorkie had 30 days to be potty trained. I informed him that it took longer than that to get him trained.........well, actually we are still working on that one. I told him that was why I had tile installed throughout most of our house. He says he doesn't bust his butt at work to pay for a house that a dog pisses and poops all over. Men!!!!!!

| Years ago someone told me never to clean the pee/poop while they are watching you, they think you find it "interesting" if they see you clean up their mess i dont know how true it is, but thats what i did with my girls while teaching them "potty" unless i caught them "in the act" i ignored the "accident" and cleaned it up afterwards

| My husband feels the same way about Lucky's accidents! He only goes poo in the house though & its usually late at night. I take him out then but he seems to only like to do it in the house. I've caught him once & taken him right out, but he still does it. I hope he grows out of it, cause he will be 10 months old on the 10th. |
