| Hi Everybody! My 4 year old Yorkie, Max "the stubborn" tore a ligament in his right rear leg last Sunday. Vet says it will heal on it's own......good news. Anyway I came across this site and noticed others had the same problems with their little guys. I saw how informative the forums are and how friendly and helpful the people who post on them are..so I decided to join up. Thanks for having such a great site. cheers! |

| Welcome to YT. Kacee was running and turned wrong, tearing her right rear cruciate ligament completely in two three years ago. She required surgery. I think you need to go see another vet. Did the one you went to see do x-rays? Cslat1 had her yorkie, Calleigh, tear the same ligament and she required surgery, too. I've really never heard anyone say that it would heal by itself. Anyone else?

| Welcome to YorkieTalk. I have never heard of a ligament healing on its on but I don't know much about them, when I was a lot younger we had a lab mix that tore a ligament and had to have surgery. Callie had a partial ACL tear and they had to fix that and did her LP surgery at the same time. I hope Max gets better soon.

I did alot of research on the net about his condition, and much of what I found agrees with the Vet. Basically keep them quiet, no walking jumping etc. Should see marked improvement after 8 weeks, if none then it's time to re-evaluate. Bottom line is I'll do whatever it takes to get Max well, but I think I'll try the conserative approach first. Thanks for the reply cheers! | |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Welcome to YT! I'm sorry to hear that Max torn his ligament. Honestly I would seek out the opinion of a board certified orthopedic surgeon in your area. Surgery is typically required for a injury like this.

| Thank you. I thought so, too. Kacee tore hers completely in two, while Calleigh (Cslat1) partially tore hers. Both had to have surgery.
