Welcome to YorkieTalk. I have never heard of a ligament healing on its on but I don't know much about them, when I was a lot younger we had a lab mix that tore a ligament and had to have surgery. Callie had a partial ACL tear and they had to fix that and did her LP surgery at the same time. I hope Max gets better soon.
