Welcome to YT. Kacee was running and turned wrong, tearing her right rear cruciate ligament completely in two three years ago. She required surgery. I think you need to go see another vet. Did the one you went to see do x-rays? Cslat1 had her yorkie, Calleigh, tear the same ligament and she required surgery, too. I've really never heard anyone say that it would heal by itself. Anyone else? | The Vet did the drawer test, said there wasn't enough movement to be a luxated patella...so didn't do xrays cause ligaments don't show up. I asked if she thought max would need surgery, was told that most dogs under 30lbs. with ligament damage would heal on their own.
I did alot of research on the net about his condition, and much of what I found agrees with the Vet. Basically keep them quiet, no walking jumping etc.
Should see marked improvement after 8 weeks, if none then it's time to re-evaluate.
Bottom line is I'll do whatever it takes to get Max well, but I think I'll try the conserative approach first.
Thanks for the reply
cheers! |
