| Can Revolution cause upset stomachs? I'm so frustrated.... I just got Harley better, and then Monday I found fleas on him. I reacted immediately and went to the nearest open vet (it was evening couldn't call mine) and bought Revolution. I asked the woman at the counter 3 times, does this have any side-effects, especially on a dog who has been having stomach issues. She never said there was a chance he could get sick. I don't expect her to predict it, but if it's a known side effect I need to know. If she'd have said there is a chance I would have waited til morning and called my vet. Ok so gave the revolution. He's now got bloody diarrhoea and threw up. Does anyone know if I just poisoned my poor dog? I'm so mad, cause he was being given Sentinal which protects for fleas (well clearly that's BS), he's had major stomach issues, which I'm wondering was caused by fleas and bacteria transferred from them biting him, now I'm all confused, and upset. I'm waiting for my vet to call me back, from the previous stomach issues she said to call and get a prescription for an antibiotic and a tummy settler if diarrhoea comes back. I'll talk to her in a few hours when she gets into the office. This is soooo stupid, he's been sick for over a month, I've spent a ton of money, and every time I think I've got it figured out, he gets sick again. Like the last three days until the fleas he was eating 1/4-3/8 cup of kibble he's actually had good poo which has been the first time in a month. I don't know what to do anymore, I have no idea whats wrong with him.

| Yeah I'm hoping the vet calls me soon so I can stop stressing out. I'm hoping I was right to get the flea meds on him ASAP. I don't know how long he's had them for, and thought maybe if he had them for a while that could be what's making him sick... I read a few articles on all of the parasites and bacteria fleas can carry especially in areas with lots of rats (I live downtown in a city so there are likely lots of those). He's been itching more than normal this month (he has dry skin from what we think is a chicken allergy) so we saw increased itching when he was on rice and chicken because he was sick, but now that fleas are in the picture, I'm wondering if all of his itching is from flea bites? Anyone on here ever deal with fleas? Someone told me that if you can see them crawling on him (I saw 3 on his belly) that he's probably been infested for a while, is this true? I'm starting to wonder if I'm driving myself crazy playing Sherlock, but I want to know whats making my baby sick.

| Unfortunately getting him there isn't an option. My car is in the shop, and wont be fixed for a few days. I've called all the friends with cars, no one is free. But my vet is aware of his previous stomach problems (saw I her a week ago), she told me to call if he did have any bloody stool or diarrhea (as she suspected he may need some meds later to settle his tummy) and she would transfer the prescription that he needs to a closer vet or my pharmacy. Sadly I'm running out of cash too, between the car dying and the multiple emerge visits. I had a good emergency cushion plus pet insurance, and I've exhausted it all. I'm no longer covered by my insurance as I've already used up the $1000 annual limit. It makes me sad, that I can't make him better, I've done a lot of diagnostic testing, and they all keep coming back clear.

| Yeah, no one told me that until after he got fleas. I honestly thought that if I gave him that, it was all I needed. So I just got off the phone with the vet, she has confused me even more! Ok so she is transferring a prescription to a closer vet... good thing. Then she said it is very likely that fleas caused all the problems... good thing... BAD thing.... she wants me to switch his food AGAIN! ugh. Ok so you guys need a bit more background to understand why I'm so mad. He was on NOW! he was fine on it, but when he got sick he was on bland diet for so long that I decided to switch when he came back, we thought he had some allergies so I wanted a food with simple ingredients we could track. Vet told me to pick a food and stick with it, they did not say changing was bad at this point. So I picked FROMM duck and sweet potato... well turns out it has chicken cartilage in it, and we suspected a chicken allergy. Vet said switch... so in the midst of all this the poor guy had rice and hamburger, rice and chicken, and science diet gastro (which he refused to eat after a few days). She also suspected irritable bowel issues and suggested a Royal Canin diet. I don't like Royal Canin cause Harley had some issues with it last time he was on it. So I read the ingredients on the one she suggested and chose Go! salmon... She said at this point stick with it... and now she is telling me to switch (a week later) to a Royal Canin diet with chicken in it :eek like wth? I thought we were eliminating things and keeping him consistent. I'm soooooo confused. What would you do? I want to keep him on Go! he likes it, he eats it, but she thinks that he can't digest it,

| Kendra, I am soooo so sorry. I know how frustrated you've been with Harley's issues and I so understand trying to get down to the bottom of something and not really understanding much of anything. It's terrible when you don't know what exactly is wrong with your baby! Poor Harley has been through so much - thank God he has you though! I have never personally used Revolution but Frontline, K9 Advantix and Iverhart have never upset his tummy. My vet had mentioned something to me about a possible chicken allergy after Jackson's stomach problems and I am wondering if it's true. He was eating Organix which he was doing great on except his sudden really runny eyes.... and it did contain a few chicken ingredients. Well, I decided three days ago to start something REALLY simple, with venison as the meat source and I swear, it was almost immediate change. I picked up a bag of California Natural grain-free venison and the eye goop has almost gone completely away... don't know if it was coincidence or whatnot, but it seems to be helping, so I am gonna keep him on the food for a whole bag and see how it goes.... Now of course, Jax did not have the problems of bloody diarrhea, throw up, etc, when on a food w/ chicken, simply runny eyes... but yes, I would try to find a really limited ingredient diet without chicken as the meat source and take it from there!

| Yeah I'm so confused. I thought the idea was to pay a vet money to be knowledgable, but this woman seems nutts. I'm getting really inconsistent answers, I'm not happy... She's not my regular vet, my vet is never available for emergency visits he's always full. She keeps telling me to be consistent, yet telling me to switch foods. I don't know what to do. Now that being said I have no idea what to give him for bland food for the next day or so. his food has oatmeal and salmon in it... so I can make him some oatmeal... but last week he refused to eat hamburger, and well I want to avoid chicken..

| Oh goodness, you've both been through the wringer, haven't you? It sounds like you need to find a new vet. This one is giving you conflicting answers and that's just unacceptable, especially for the amount of money she's probably made off of you. I would imagine that a bland diet could be achieved with white rice and maybe some salmon or ground bison (sold in most grocery stores, even Walmart carries it now). My girls can't have chicken either, so if they need a bland diet I usually just give them white rice with the bison. Anything whole grain is probably not a good idea (so the oatmeal would be out) since it's harder for them to digest and the idea of a bland diet is to give the digestive system a break while not starving them. You could even try mashed plain white potatoes too. I hope your baby gets better quickly

After arguing with her a bit we agreed to keep him on his food, which makes perfect sense to me considering she told me to keep things consistent for him. She said if he gets sick again to switch to an easier food to digest.

| I've never had any of mine get sick from revolution. It sounds like his upset stomach is from either his diet or he could have worms if he has fleas which could cause the diarrhea and upset stomach. I'm glad he is eating better now, keep up the good work!!

| You could try this----feed rice and cottage cheese for a few days until his digestive tract is normal. Then choose a food you like with limited ingredients and add a little to the rice and cottage cheese for a few days, if this sets well, back off all but the kibble. Years ago, I rescued my Abigail from a shelter not knowing she had giardia. She was 6 or 7 weeks old and I nearly lost her but this is what I fed her and she was never sick again and I lost her 2 weeks before her 17th birthday. Good luck.

| I don't know if I'd recommend cottage cheese -- isn't it quite fattening?
