| I am at my wits end! HELP!! Melody (my 11lbs baby) is driving me insane!! to the point I cry almost every night!! it doesnt matter how much i cuddle her, walk her or play w her... every night when i need to sit down to study she starts barking loud, so loud it gives me a headache and my neighbors are complaining.. she wont stop barking no matter what i do.. i ignore her, reprimend her, and nothing works... she is spayed, and her sister Chloe is so quiet and calm, like day and night..... i am desperate, i cry every night.. and i want to spank her, i remind myself she is a baby and i am a grown woman and can't do that. but i swear i am crying as i write this, she wont even stop if i pick her up.. HELP please!

| How old is she? Is she just doing this for attention? Perhaps she is bored? Have you done any obedience training with her? That might help!

| Will she be quiet if you put her in a covered crate? Can you give her a kong or long lasting chewy to entertain herself when you are working? Does she have a lot of toys to play with? Have you consulted a trainer to help you teach the quiet command? Have you tried shaking a can of pennies?

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | maybe a bone or something she loves to chew on. to keep her mind off you. sounds like she has lots to tell you. hopefully you can find something that will keep her interest instead of it all on you. Maybe a kong with her favorite treat in it Good luck

| Hmm 8 months old, she is still a pup. She probably just wants attention from you Does she have something new that you can give her while you study.. Maybe only give her something like a bully stick or texas toothpick, nyla bone. kong with frozen yogurt in it.. when you study. Bring it out like it is bran new, take it away when you are done..

| Hope it helps!! She is just a baby and wants ALL of your attention ALL the time Stay strong and only give her that "special thing" when you have to study, try to keep her mind on something else!! Let us know how it works, we will go to plan B if we have to!!

| 8 months old...horrors! haha Oh, they really do learn early how to control us. She simply does not want quiet time and has learned that barking will get her what she wants. I do agree that perhaps a Kong will keep her busy and quiet...but, I do think that perhaps you may have to be patient and listen to her for a night or so and not give in to the urge to stop it. Once she learns that you will not pick her up, I am fairly certain this will stop. Good luck! I do know how difficult it can be.

| That's really tough!! I'm sorry to have to say, but I got so desperate with my 'hyper' yorkie that I got one of those electric bark collars. Didn't take her long to figure out how to shake it off to the side so she could still bark and not get zapped. I know it's mean, but I was at my wits end!! She finally would only be quiet if I brought out the fly swatter. Never actually had to use it - she just knew I meant business. In the end, though, I got so overcome by the incessant barking when I wasn't constantly carrying around the fly swatter that when my best friend offered to take her off my hands, I said "yes." It broke my heart. That was my first yorkie, and her name was "Ditto" - that was more than a dozen years ago, so you see she is still in my heart. I suffer from migraines and now own yorkies that are less hyper and have better manners. Some yorkies are just wound tighter and they can't help barking. I wish you the very best with your baby. |

| You could try a spray bark collar

| i highly suggest you DO NOT use any form of electric shock collars on a yorkie. that's asking for a lifetime of health issues, mistrust, and more problem behaviors. plus a shock collar could KILL a yorkie, they are too small to be using them. a spray collar is a more effective tool but I still don't think they are neccesary at all. simply use a squirt bottle or shake a penny can at her or keep her more occupied when you study with a toy, treat or chewie. if she barks at you get up and walk away from her. turn your back to her completely. you have to ignore her attempts at attention with more than just not looking up but with body language too. moving away and turning your back shows that you will not give attention to barking at all. don't back down and don't give in to her. hope that helps. and by all means do not hit her or hurt her in any way at all. |

| Agree with Rachel. Do not use any type of electric shock, spray collar. That is horrible treatment for any animal no matter the issues of the dog!
