| Almost lost Kayla today We took Kayla in for her bordatella shot and as usually starts to get really stressed. I have never seen anything like it. SHe hates riding in the car or going anywhere. We got to the vet and had to wait about 15 or 20 min. and of coarse people coming in was like "What is wrong with her?" We have had so much going with Tina lately that this was unreal. We got called back and the tech took her temp. and said, "This couldn't be right." She took it again and it was 106. She was so stressed that she almost had a stroke. They began to rub her down with an alkahol rub and put fans on her. I was scared to death. They would not give her a shot or do nothing she was that close. They soaked her down and wet her feet and wrapped her in a towel and at that point it was 104. We got her home, continued the rub and put her right in front of fans. We finally got it down to 102. Tonite she is doing fine. I am going to have her checked (was going to today) for ct, which they said is probably one of her problems, plus she wants her to lose 3lbs. Thank God tonite I still have my baby. How fast something can happen. Give your baby a hug tonite. |

| I am so sorry that happened to you and Kayla. You have had to cope with so much already, and this must have been terrifying for you. We experienced this a lot with our little one, Gracie. She had CT, and going to the vet particularly got her worked up. I never went anywhere with her without bringing ice with me, since there were many times I had to get her temperature down or I would have lost her. I normally put her feet in a sink of cool water when she had difficulty breathing or when she got very excited, she'd go to the back door to let me know she wanted to go out. She'd jump into the pool steps several times a day to cool off. Nothing ever stopped her activity, but we had to be very careful with her. When it first started happening, I used a spray bottle and would wet her feet and forehead, but in time I had to act more quickly to get her temperature down. One time we were at the vet and the technician ran for oxygen. I asked him for one minute to put her in the sink to get her breathing back to normal, and it worked like it normally did. I knew this would happen every time she went out there, especially since she knew when there was no food or water down before we left that something was up. It was always very scary, but I learned how to respond when this happened with Gracie. I hope Kayla is doing much better and that you both don't ever have to experience something like this again. I'll continue to keep all of your family in my thoughts and prayers.

| They tried giving her ice and she would not even drink. The vet said the alcohol worked better and faster than water. Don't know, but, I know I have never been so scared in all my life. I never knew their fever could shoot up like that. Now, what am I going to do when she needs to go in. Wish vets made house calls. I will be so afraid to take her in. The vet said to also bring her in on the coolest days. She is subing for my regular vet and I thought, she must not be from Texas. After spring there are no cool days. Help us pray she can have this ct fixed without surgery. I think I read somewhere they can help sometimes without surgery. Hope my baby doesn't have to have surgery. She also said to give her benedryl when we bring her in. I don't know but I don't think it will help her much. It is really that severe. She sounds like she is dying. I bathed her alittle while ago because she had so much alcohol put on her and its drying to the skin. I think that helped her feel alittle better. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | That is scary. Poor baby. My Gracie had a severe CT and thunderstorms would set her off. I lived in fear of them. I know we have mobile vets around here maybe you could find one that would come to you.

| I used ice in a towel to try to get the body temperature down when I wasn't near water. Gracie wouldn't drink in the middle of an attack. Using the spray bottle on her feet and the top of her head might help keep Kayla cool when going to the vet. If something like this starts to happen in the future, you'll know the signs and be able to react before the temperature climbs too high. I never got used to it and I was always afraid, but I learned how to treat it before it got too dangerous. The trip to the vet was about a half an hour for me, but Gracie was used to the car. The people at my vet's office knew that she couldn't wait when she went there, so they brought us into a room right away. My vet became too afraid to give Gracie shots or do dentals on her, but she still needed to be seen there. Maybe if you speak with them, they will take Kayla in without waiting.

| Yeah, I am going to have to do something. We had a little schnauzer that we lost to diabetes. I gave him 2 shots a day. I may have to learn to give Kayla her shots although I know there are times she will have to go to the vet. Thats a good idea about taking us right in. I'm sure they will. I have gone there for years and they have been so good to help us, like coming out when Tina was caught under the recliner. Fever is scary and I was so afraid she was going to have a stroke. So was that vet. Boy, did she get on it when she seen how bad Kayla was. Thank God for caring people. All of them at our vet's office are wonderful. |

| I am just reading this and shaking for you. I'll bet you were petrified and cannot imagine how awful this must be. Do they have a medication or anything they can give her for this? Does is come from fear? I am sure praying for your Kayla and you!
