I used ice in a towel to try to get the body temperature down when I wasn't near water. Gracie wouldn't drink in the middle of an attack. Using the spray bottle on her feet and the top of her head might help keep Kayla cool when going to the vet. If something like this starts to happen in the future, you'll know the signs and be able to react before the temperature climbs too high. I never got used to it and I was always afraid, but I learned how to treat it before it got too dangerous. The trip to the vet was about a half an hour for me, but Gracie was used to the car. The people at my vet's office knew that she couldn't wait when she went there, so they brought us into a room right away. My vet became too afraid to give Gracie shots or do dentals on her, but she still needed to be seen there. Maybe if you speak with them, they will take Kayla in without waiting.
